A wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw, the less he spoke
The less he spoke, the more he heard
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

This is an old poem, earliest known date is 1875, unknown author.

Can anyone see any Bible passages or lessons from this poem?

Because of my loud groaning
my bones cling to my flesh.
I am like a desert owl of the wilderness,
like an owl of the waste places;
I lie awake;
I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.
(Ps. 102:5-7 ESV)
Is that it?

Only one?
No, I guess not.

"A wise man will hear (that is, 'listen') and increase in learning" (Proverbs 1:5 NASB)

"A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions." (Proverbs 18:2 NIV)

The wise shut their mouths, listen, and learn, becoming wiser. The fool scoffs at instruction and is only interested in expressing his own opinions about matters. Chattering fools I think is what Proverbs calls them.
