a test photo in order to be ready for the lunar eclipse. it will be harder to get since I will be in color. more light means I will have to drop exposure.

taken a few minutes ago. the moon is getting brighter and it is harder to get any detail when it does. I had to remove light and exposure to get this. I will take a few more as time goes and try it in color instead of black and white.

harder indeed but it found the trick to getting moon photos.

that's all I can do for tonight as the moon is getting less and less bright. it took full apertature, max zoom and a shutter speed of 1/100 to get that

Nicely done. This was a super wolf blood moon, technically. "Super" because it was at it's closest point to the Earth in it's orbit. "Wolf" because it's a full moon in January. And "blood" because it's a total eclipse of the moon.

Somehow, this makes it look a lot more 3-D than usual, doesn't it?

Clear skies in my area tonight. This is the best shot I could get. Its very difficult when there is so little light.
