Zune HD

It has been out for around half a year. I was one of the lucky ones to get it around a week after it came out. (There was a backorder demands were so high!)

It's specs are better than the iPod Touch in about every area... I love watching the Skit Guys and listening to Casting Crowns on mine..

What's your opinion for this device?

I've got an older 80 gig Zune that I've had a couple years and I really like it.
The downside to mine though is that it's too heavy and bulky to exercise with, but it's great for watching video's.

I bet it would be heavy lol.

I got a 16gb and the only reason I ran out of memory is because I put like 1.5 seasons of mythbusters on it. I'm having to only keep the shows I like so I can add some skitguys stuff on it. :P

Ha! I love myth busters!
I just cleaned up a bunch of junk I never plan on listening to and I have over 60 gig free.

I bought the Zune because at the time I had a Ford Fusion with Microsoft Sync and I figured that the Zune would work better with Microsoft Sync since they were from the same vendor. Unfortunatly, MS Sync wasn't that great with the indexing of the Zune so when I'd go to listen to a gospel, it would inevitably mess up and might go from chapter one to chapter 6, then to 7, 8, 2, 9, 3.... Ironically, MS Sync didn't have that problem with the ipod :confused A $200 firmware upgrade was supposed to fix the issue :shrug

I like the looks of the Zune HD and it is supposed to be a good player but I can't get past that it is a MS product. That and the lack of expandable memory would keep me from getting one.

The ZuneHD is a very good product.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have went to the iPod touch when I think about all the apps they have.. But I then remember that ZuneHD has better sound quality and overall in my opinion a better user interface.

Plus with the new "Windows Phone", which is what the iPhone is to the iPod Touch, the ZuneHD ought to get tons of amazing updates..

Hopefully..

@Stevebolts,
$200 firmware upgrade? ouch! That is crazy. Might as well buy you a whole new media player for that price.. :o

I agree. I am interested in the iTouch for all the apps except that it has mediocre sound quality. Maybe a 32GB would do just for apps and podcasts and leave the music to real players. But it's hard to justify $300 for something I wouldn't listen to a whole lot of music on.

I like the Samsung P3, Cowon S9, and Zune HD. I just don't get why they don't have expandable memory. :screwloose Oh well, there are always new products coming out all the time anyway.

I personally don't see how you would need the expandable memory for the 32 gig Zunehd..

I've got over 100 podcasts (most around the hour long mark) and around 300 songs + Mythbuster episodes and other shorter videos.. All on my 16 gig. I've filled it up but I am still completely ok with not syncing all my videos onto my zune. I remove one episode of mythbusters and that frees up lots of space for me to put more. Plus I can always resync that episode.. So..

Oh and I have 10 apps on it.

But like I mentioned either in this topic or in the iPad one, I plan on getting an iPad for reading, playing games and an amazing web browsing plus all the great apps that will be coming out for it. So I'll have the apps covered with that device.

I bought a 4 GB Cowon D2 when they first came out and it has an SD slot. The 4 GB is filled with music and I have one 16 GB card with 10.5 GB in music and a few pictures. I have another 16 GB card with 10 GB in podcasts and 3.5 GB in ripped DVDs. That's almost all of my music but not all of my podcasts.

So if I was to get something that could do apps, I would be needing something large, if I was going to use it for music as well.
