There is salvation in no other, for there is not another name under heaven having been given among men, by which it behooves us to be saved."

Is there anywhere in the Bible that Jesus Freely gave material needs to the poor?

They had a treasury, but when did you see in scripture that they gave funds to the poor Freely ?Never did you see them give anything physical such as food, clothing, etc.... to anyone who did not believe and follow him first? They healed, but no provisions. God does not want man to look to another man for their protection or material needs in life, He wants us to get their eyes UP on Jesus so that God can bless and be their source. This does not mean you are not to help someone in your path, but not set yourself up as their god.
John 13:28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
KJV

That's actually not true. Many followed Him just because of the signs and miracles.

John 6
6 After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Seal of Tiberias.
2 Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His sign which He performed on those who were diseased.

And don't forget the 10 lepers. He healed 10 but only 1 gave glory to God for that healing.

Matthew 15
32 Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude[/B], because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
Again, Did not those multitudes first receive Christ by coming to him, before they received anything material?

I like that you keep digging for truth, but keep in mind, I said Physical things were never given out, not healings.
John 6:26-27
26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
KJV

Certainly there should be something written to show Jesus going out an handing out blankets, clothes, food with out cost?
[Do you know why the books could not contain all that Jesus has ever done? It is because as the Word of God, being His Right Hand that He created all things by for all eternity from the beginning, how could they?

Actually I believe John was making reference to the 3 years of Jesus' ministry.

But I could be wrong.

It doesn't say that they did. You're just assuming they did. Your assumptions don't make it so.
.
Might I add, neither do yours, yet we must go by what is written, not by our assumptions. Show me something as our example of him handing out supplies. Friend

Bread and fish are physical items. And the passage you posted verifies that many who followed Him did so simply because of the signs.[

Aren't you assuming when you say He never freely gave?

Your assumptions also contradict the message of the Gospel.

I do know that Jesus did give out clothing, food, water Freely to those who would receive it, but it is not as expected, they were all spiritual for he clothed us in with the Word, He fed us with His Word, and even bathed us and gave us drink of the living water. But no one ever receives the natural things from God until they are willing to accept the Son. Of course God gives us all rain, sun, air to breath for with out they would perish, and even rewards good behavior and judges bad rather you are a child of God or not, but nobody can come into the kingdom of God and receive without calling upon the name of the Lord, His name is the Word of God.
Rev 19:12-13
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

They first came to him and received from him the spiritual food first! Then they were fed! God always gives first, but we must receive it before we gain physical needs from Him.

Now ponder on that, could any one do so much in their life, let alone just 3-1/2yrs, that if books were written it could fill this whole earth?

That's not true.

Luke 6
35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.
36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

How do you reconcile your belief's with this?

James 2
15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

1 John 3
17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
KJV
See, you must come to Christ first, then your needs shall be met!
The question you asked in the title of this thread has clearly been answered by several people.
You did not suggest any other subject or ask a question such as .....
Which is more important to give to another person, the bread of life or physical bread?
If you had asked the question or introduced the subject that you really want to talk about the answers you received would have been very different.
Being straight forward seems to lead to more productive conversations.

Scripture please!

Hi 4afaithfulone,

It is interesting that many things that Jesus and the disciples did are not recorded, but I find it funny that you would say there is nothing in Bible that says that Jesus did not give material needs freely.

I would point you to
Matthew 6:25-34New King James Version (NKJV)
.

26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will Henot much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

You know as well as anyone that God provides for all our needs. Yes, we have to go work, by the the sweat of our brow...; but even in that, the miracle of life is something that cannot be denied. Our brains, ability to move, breath, feel, smell, see, and the list goes on and on and on.....

I'm curious as to what has inspired this question. What do you think?

The Sun felt wonderful today.

Once one receives the eternal gifts of the spiritual, the transitory gifts of the mere physical pale in comparison. This focus on physical gifts as reward for tokens of spiritual acquiescence seem like a vague justification for the prosperity gospel.:twocents

I am awaiting to see if someone can show me scripture where Jesus ever "Freely" gave material needs such as clothing, food, money to the poor.
Thank you for asking

I assume you believe that there are no such scriptures and that we should not materially help those in need unless they first "come to Christ". Are you suggesting that if some calamity such as a tsunami hits a region that we should not help those people by providing material needs even though they are unbelievers who never even heard of Messiah Yeshua? If so, then we miss a golden opportunity to share the Gospel with them. Or are you suggesting we go in and share the Gospel and if they believe, then we help them materially?

...Tha Or are you suggesting we go in and share the Gospel and if they believe, then we help them materially?
That would be a really good way to build up a lot of numbers to point to how many converts "you" "won for the Lord" but most of them would be fakers. Much like the results of the crusades: "Convert or die".
