What books are you currently reading? I am reading a book called "The Bible As History" by Werner Keller. It has a lot of great information in it.

Hmmm, is it all right if I post my reading list? I imagine you know most of it will have to do with my faith.

Sure, go for it. It doesn't matter if they are religious books or just novels. Whatever your reading.

Smokey finished Tom Clancy's "Without Remorse" and it is without remorse he finished the book. Not one of Clancy's better books.

I am currently reading " Tender Mercy for a Mother's Soul" by Angela Thomas Guffey.....

Well since our pastor is going through the 23rd psalm, and refering to Phillip Keller's "A Shepherd looks at the 23rd Psalm" I would read "Lessons from a Sheepdog" by the same author.
Actually it's quite good for a small book. (less than 100 pages)

I just finished "Solar Flare" by Larry Burkett.

Halfway through Lord of the Flies. With any luck, should finish it on the plane today

A few next to my bed

A few open next to my bed:

The Nazarene - by Sholem Asch (I am really enjoying the book! Written in 1939. I have a very old copy I found in the 2nd hand bookstore. I can't put it down.)

The Man who Changed the World - by Herbert Lockyer. 2 volume set. "The conquest of Christ through the centuries". Lockyer writes all those "All the Parables of the Bible", "All the Miracles of the Bible". He has an easy style. Again, 2nd hand. A real gem.

The Seven Festivals of the Messiah - Edward Chumney. I think Mr Chumney is a Messianic Christian of Jewish birth. I keep dipping into the book. Hard to read cover-to-cover. That may be my own inexperience in Judaism which is holding me back.

Well I'm reading two devotional books every morning. "A Breakfast with God" and another one that I can't remember the name of...I think its the "Jesus Bible Devotional" or something.

I'm also reading a novel called "I, Lucifer" which is a satirical novel written from the perspective of Lucifer who has been given a month's trial on earth in the body of a writer by God as God wants to take him back into heaven. At first Lucifer just sees it as a little vacation away from Hell, but then he starts to realise how tough it can be to be human. Some parts of it are absolutely, utterly, side-splittingly hilarious.

Just started reading Bring up Boys by Dr. James Dobson...has anyone read it....off and on I go through Power of a Praying Wife and Power of a Praying Parent.

Differences - Bringing up Boys

Hi Mom~2boys

I did buy "Bringing up Boys" by James Dobson. My wife and mother-in-law hijacked the book after I had only read the first few chapters. :-? I think it explained the differences girls-boys. It seemed to make sense. I will retrieve/re-hijack the book and we can compare notes and thoughts.

What are your thoughts so far?

Regards
Gary

Gary I would love to discuss this book with you. So far I'm only in about 4 chapters~ the explaination of why boys and girls are different...it really does make sense. It is already helping me look at my boys in a different light. I think it's going to be very helpful for me as I am the only female in my household :) I think once we get into the tougher stuff I'll have more to share....I'll tell you what ~ it's one of those books you pick up and don't want to put down.

Gary, I have to let you know that I was having a really tough day with my 3 year old yesterday and I jumped right to the chapter on discipline and it really made a lot of sense.... Jill

I am currently reading The Problem of Pain by C. S. Lewis.

God's Secretaries

Okinawan Karate Do

Haley's Cleaning Hints

and last but not least....my Old Scofield Study Bible.

Finished Lord of the Flies (and was a bit disappointed with the ending). Halfway through Tribulation Force.
