Rev_13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
trying to understand... this is talking about a literal sea...and the rest is not literal...?

I don't declare myself as a prophetess, but I know I can see certain things just as the old prophets could. When John was having his visions of the future, he would try and describe what he was seeing. He could only really relate the visions to what he had experienced and how God revealed scripture to him. I'm definitely not an Old Testament scholar, but I believe God was showing John the scripture in Daniel/combined with a future event of the beast. So, "yes" some of it is literal and some of it is previous prophecy.

I wonder if "the great dragon" is a beast? ya think?

I wonder if a liar sez he knows Jesus, if that liar is telling the truth? (John 8:44)

Satan is assuredly "anti-Christ." Satan is also an adverse spirit, which lines up just fine with the anti-Christ spirit.

This is not complex scriptural math.

The sea is an allegorical term applied to people, particularly the unsaved. The "sea" is where the great dragon abides, meaning IN PEOPLE. How many scriptures do we need for this? Mark 4:15, Acts 26:18, 2 Cor. 4:4. Need more? Why? The raging sea represents confusions of the serpent therein, expressed in the PEOPLE. Mystery Babylon is the haunt of devils and vile spirits. Where does Jesus show us they are? Uh, IN PEOPLE, on just about every page of the N.T. Gospels. One would have to be nearly entirely blind to miss it.

We we are saved, in the allegorical senses we are brought to solid ground. Dry land if you please. Even better, ZION, that "dry ground" that forever thirsts for the river of life which is Christ.

Doesn't anybody spend any time studying allegory?

Allegories deal with REAL MATTERS. They are not kids tales.

Want to stir up the beast? Pinpoint his location in the flesh. Particularly in "christians." Then you'll see it surface. 1 John 3:8.

If we understand "end time" we should be led to understand that "our" personal quest in the church membership revolves around our HOPE that our "real enemies" are going to be destroyed.

Those enemies are not our fellow man, but Satan and devils.

The very real Power of God's Words abides in surfacing these bad actors to surface from their lair, which is the VILE FLESH that we are all currently bound with.

It is believers who will carry the harpoons, at the end.

Be armed and ready, OR, those who are not may very well suffer deeper captivity resulting in demonic insanity, cause that's where all of this is going, at the end. It will be "collective demonic insanity."

Ezekiel 38:21
And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord God: every man's sword shall be against his brother.

Those looking for some man are wasting their time. They'll see nothing and will in fact see less and less til the darkness descends upon their flesh in total.

Luke 8:18
Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

Luke 17:20
- The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

God has never been interested in lying hypocrites. He presently "tolerates" them.

Yes, our sin is of THE DEVIL. So no one has very far to look to find the enemies.

God's Intentions were always to crush this enemy beneath our feet. So, do the math on "location."

Romans 16:20
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

So none of you believe that the beast out of the sea is the anti-christ?
Then who is this beast?
Come on, let's get your answers so I can slam you all.
Hi Rollo, I believe that the first beast out of the sea. (sea meaning the mass of mankind) is what people call the anti-Christ, though anti-Christ is not used in Revelation to name him that.

This king who reigns over the kingdom (the beast) out of the sea was/ will be not just an anti-christ, he is THE anti-christ; meaning the biggest and baddest of all liars who deny Christ. He will be energized and empowered by satan himself. As far as I can tell from scripture, he has already appeared and destroyed the Temple. And that spirit of destruction that energized that king back then is locked in the abyss right now but will be re-released in the end and an eighth king will appear on behalf of the ten horned/ seven headed beast out of the sea energized by that re-released power of destruction. That is THE anti-christ that we are presently waiting to be revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:8). He was, now is not, but will be again (Revelation 17:9-11). (Note: I think Hitler was the seventh king who had to appear for a while).

The interesting thing is this eighth king, along with the ten horns, will destroy the great prostitute, which I think is a certain church that we are not to discuss in these forums :wink.

It's head was Nero, so that was the beast personified. The beast of the land was the apostate Jewish leadership, political and religious, that adopted and promoted pagan Roman values. Rome established the world order, and the corruption of temple Judaism by pagan values left all state sanctioned religion defiled.

Nope.
Wrong.
Next.

The clearly reasoned logic of your objection is less than compelling.

Literalism can't work. Scripture deals with the unseen. And therefore can not be literal.

We do not see, literally, the Fruit of the Spirit. We see the results of same literally, in very pale fashions. It works the same on the other side of the ledgers. We see the results of evil, but the causes remain unseen, behind the scenes. We never see the essence of evil in full blown regalia. We see bits and pieces of same reflected to the outside world.

Scripture deals with God, unseen. With Satan and devils, unseen. And with man, the only player to the drama that can be seen literally, in the external senses.

But to really see 'the man' we are still moved to observe the unseen. And, when we move in that direction, it is no longer literal only observation.

Paul taught us to know no man after the flesh. 2 Cor. 5:16

Paul technically taught that he didn't even exist, as himself.

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified
with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

There is no way to perceive these matters in the literalist sights. What we will see on the outside will not show what is really going on. That's all there is to it.

Many look for a Bodily Return of Jesus.

Scripture doesn't present that. Scripture presents that The Spirit of Christ will dwell in man, as The Dominant, in us. No one will be able to "see" this return. There is not going to be some Bodily Jesus sitting in a temple in Jerusalem, after He finishes wiping out our enemies. That's not how it's going down.

Scripture presents that all will know Him, because He Lives "in us."

2 Corinthians 6:16
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them;

and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

There will be no external sight of this matter. It is behind the veil of the flesh, IN the temple, US.

These are currently proposals given to us in part to enter into, by faith.

But, there are other matters going on currently, IN the temples of man, that can not be seen.

To understand "end time" we have to turn to the internal temple to derive our sights.

Yes, in CLOUDS. There are numeous ways showing the "hows" of return. Clouds are one of those showings.

Colossians 1:27
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
