Yes,that always makes me feel good go be called "Young lady" when I am far from a young lady. But then again do you think that sweet old man was flirting with me?Often it depends on how people carry themselves, I guess. (Even disguise themselves?)
Glad you enjoyed your day, Ms Kathi...
Blessings.

My dad made me address adults as "ma'am" or "sir", whether they liked it or not! xD I still do it out of habit.Nope... you're not old. Old is 137-1/2 !
The young man was taught manners. It's quite possible he addresses all women over the age of 18 (or 20) by the respectful "ma'am".
No I don't; (though I can't see his heart); I'm not talking about you now, Ms Kathi, but for example to an 80 year old, a lady several decades younger, who maybe attends a gym, who maybe has a haircut that's a bit spikey and who uses time well spent in front of a make up mirror (this is all hypothetical, not a direct comment) may well seem very much a young lady.
(Since you asked; two cents'.)
Blessings.
Well,no I do not attend a gym.My hair is cut short and I do not color it and I do not wear makeup.I am a very plain person.Maybe I am a young lady at heartNo I don't; (though I can't see his heart); I'm not talking about you now, Ms Kathi, but for example to an 80 year old, a lady several decades younger, who maybe attends a gym, who maybe has a haircut that's a bit spikey and who uses time well spent in front of a make up mirror (this is all hypothetical, not a direct comment) may well seem very much a young lady.

Hi Angel, I got a kick out of you saying your mom tells you that you look young. I love listening to amateur talent on America’s Got Talent, Brittan’s Got Talent, and the Xfactor, and the following young lady named Stacy sings especially good. When asked at the first by Simon Cowell if she was any good she gives the standard qualification; sometimes her mom tells her she is good. She is great, and I would no doubt agree with your mom.My Mom says I look about 25. I'll take it!
Being addressed ma'am is a title of respect.
Same as a man being addressed as "sir".
Regardless of age.
