Mentally retarded has been a term. It's only people that have misused the word to give it it's notation. Same with the word bastard. The KJV has the word bastard in there. You know I was not using it in a negative connotation, so it should not be an offense.

I don't see why. There's a difference. Retardation is a slowness of growth. My uncle is in his 50s I think now, and it's better than saying he's like a 2 year old. He never knew how to talk. People for some odd reason need to be politically correct with anything. Walk through a high school. You'll see how much "mentally challenged" is used to insult people. Connotation is key. That would be like me getting offended at the term Asperger's. I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome which makes it difficult to socialize and make friends. Retarded is in medical dictionaries.
