We are all looking for answers, seeking how to be, and even if we can be as we should be. And where to draw the line, if we don't measure up. Is the line at, our trying, the thought hat counts, the faith and acceptance of Jesus, and faith and acceptance of God. There is the side of the line for what can we do, and then there is the side of the line, haven't we done enough? Or even can we do enough?

God has been so kind to us, even to call Himself our Father. Jesus encourages us to do this too. And I think for me looking at those aspects of how much do we do, in the same way a child does with their own dad looks at those issues, it's helped me fit an understanding around some of it. I have hope that it's close to being right, if it's not right.

Here's what I mean. Some time ago, when I was a cub living with my parents, I was doing something wrong, that I knew was wrong, but it was so enjoyable, exciting, and addicting I could only try and hide it from everyone around me, and hide it from my parents as well. For me the wrong that my dad confronted me on was going on the computer and looking up pornographic pictures. When he confronted me on it though, it was in a way out of sympthy, and he told me he knew this is a hard struggle and easy temptation, but that I needed to quit. I was so ashamed to be caught, and knew how awful it was, and that my dad has to be ashamed of me as well. But still he came to me at that time gently.

Now that story comes from my family not yours or anyone else's, and holds the dynamics between myself and my dad's relationship. But for me it was a lesson to me, even in the wrongs I do, the ones that makes everyone ashamed to even approach, my dad still loves me. With that in mind be strengthened. God loves us all and all of heaven celebrates when a sinner turns to God, and seeks to be his. Even to the extent to celebrate this more then celebrating the ones who stayed true. God loves us, let that strengthen you as you learn and try and struggle with how much you should do, how much is enough, and if believing is enough.

Move on from that comfort of love, then there are the tasks at hand that we are charged with doing or not doing. From the start of Moses giving the Laws throughout the history of Isreal, there is a history of God saying His expectations, relieving the stresses of the nation once they turn back to Him, or letting them fall into the pits of punishments when they stray away. There are expectations, there are blessings and there are punishments, but wait there's more still. There is also praising God, there is fellowship, there is strength in faith such as in Job, Daniel, Ruth, and Ester, where each story had it's hardships and needed to rely on God to make it through. In all of it there is so much to learn, and if we can understand it, we can apply those lessons to our lives.

Now if we are God's family, and He truly is our Father, there is at play the lessons and the love a father teaches us, but there is also a strength in relationship as well. Our praise and worship I think is a joy to God, and it also give us strength in our Love for Him. Our fellowship also will help us or give us struggles. Depending on whether our fellowship is there with others who will strengthen us, encourage us, and Know God too, or if they are those that we are called to be a kindness to, but are the ones that make us question the right way. There are more then one kind of fellowships. Many kinds of friendships, and many habits, actions, and perspectives that hopefully strengthen us to God more. Try and gather at least a few stable aspects in your life to strengthen your relationship with God, and you'll be blessed for it.

Every time I hear someone say they are far away from their parents or the rest of their family, and they are glad for that, it make me sad for them. And I think how lucky I am to be close to my parents and my brothers, and that I need to tent to that more then I do, so that I don't lose that someday down the road.

Sorry for the long rant, but what I'm trying to say is this. God loves us, and our relationship with Him can be influenced by our actions. He will still love us, but the relationship will be stronger if we have the elements in our lives to stay in love with God too. Follow Him, strive with love for everyone, praisvHim, and say close to the Word, with our own study or bible study in groups.

Either way, be strengthened. The Good news of Jesus is that the creator of the universe loves us, calls us to be His own, and has paid a fierce price to buy us back from our sins and our shames. Love Him for it, and praise Him for His love, whenever you see it.

I like your post very much and I'm glad that you have an earthly Dad that you love and respect. I too have had a wonderful Dad. I wish I could tell all Dads to be a good Dad to their children so that they in turn wouldn't have such a hard time accepting our Heavenly Father's free gift of love and Salvation.

By the way, my own two Children boast of my accomplishments as a Dad to them of which causes me to reflect on the accomplishments of my Heavenly Father in the lives of my Children....God is a good God, I give Him praise.

Dear Sister sunshine, I came from such a religion that promoted doing and don'ting to the nth degree, ritual and tradition regulating everything we did, and yet with the promise if all went right until I died I might just make it, and that after I paid for all the forgiven sin paid for by Christ. When asked one time if I was saved I really didn't know what that really meant. I believed our Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and in my heart loved them, but knowing little more than what I was told.

There are Christians just as saved as me today that believe we can lose our salvation purchased for us by our Savior Jesus, or that we can even give it back. We have among us some that will not eat certain things, or observe certain days of obligation, and we read below that they are actually doing it to God in weakness, but we are to receive them; God does!!!
Rom 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
Rom 14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
Rom 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
Rom 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

We are in a time of:
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
I'll leave of by posting a link to a pamphlet I wrote I hope will give you the safety we have in Christ. :wave2

Dear brother Eugene,Thank you for your sharing.I read these verses that you posted before , I can feel the Lord is so full of mercy and lovingkindness ,he gives us all he have and even for save mankind that was crucified by people.but I think I am still struggling in sins.I originally thought I can feel much better especially when i read this:"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."I pray to God for thank his salvation .but I don't know why I still feel sad.I remember this:"Let your desire be for peace with all men, and to be made holy, without which no man may see the Lord."[Hebrews 12:14]"Because it has been said in the Writings, You are to be holy, for I am holy."I can not help but ask ourselves, do Jesus incarnate for the salvation of mankind crucified end up seeing a result, those of us who keeps love him, worship him, but still full of sin and filth, I would like to see this is not the main results. How can we truly achieve the holiness of it, no longer live in the daytime crime confession night cycle... ...May God guide us.

Dear Sister sunshine, your quest to rid you of sin is admirable but our walk in Christ is established by God’s work in us to will, and to do of His good pleasure. (Php 2:13).

Next we appear to come to the reality of our two natures: the new nature of Christ which cannot sin, and us which can do nothing but sin we see the Apostle Paul experienced in Rom 7:5-25.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. The conclusion (Therefore because of this)?
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus!

There is much to be gained in a life submitted to God, the least of which is the peace of a good conscience toward Him, but also the consequence that can befall us while living in sin walking after the flesh. (Rom 8:4)

King David didn’t ask for salvation to be restored unto him, but in Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. And I will add that joy and peace can be present without good happenings or happiness.

Thanks for your brutal honesty, Sunshine. I've been there. I knew in my heart that I loved God, so why did I keep on sinning? Why do I keep doing the things that hurt Him? It's called "struggling with struggling." Paul did the same thing (Romans 7:15-25).

There is a difference between a believer who struggles to please God (but sins everyday - even the same sin over and over), and the believer who allows doubt, bitterness, thorns and thistles to choke out his faith. The key is to know and celebrate the cross - know that Jesus died for these stupid sins you can't seem to shake. If you could do it on your own, you wouldn't need Jesus (Galatians 2:21).

So stop living a fear-based faith that depends on you "getting it right" all the time. Just accept that you're not going to get it right (while striving to do so out of love and faith), and know that God is cheering you on as you build Christ-like character. There is a reason that longsuffering, endurance, and joy are all listed as fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

You will also find a lot of cheerleaders here for you on this forum. Peace.

This is the Biblical definition of His Kingdom.. the only one i have found...

Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Rom 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

What pleasures the Father in Heaven, is that you have trusted in His Son.
If you've done this, then He will ALWAYS be pleasured with you, even tho you are a normal human being who fails, has issues, and is not always so perfect.......just like the rest of us.
Remember that God, came here, and lived as a human being, and understands how it feels to be human.
He knows that life is difficult and that we are "only human".
So, never be concerned that you have to earn God's love or that you have to be "good enough" for him to love you, and always know that God loves you just as you are, and saved you just as you are, and will never leave you and never let you go.
God is good all the time.
God is Love.
God loves you.
and remember that there is noone else like Jesus....
-
Nobody else like you..

How I wish life could be so easy as you said, I also want to enter heaven without further consideration, but you didn't reply sunshine's questions including the scripture ""Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will go into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the pleasure of my Father in heaven."[Matthew 7:12]"

just for your opinion,i think maybe you forget a man."There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil."[Job 1:1][kjv]He is a exception.so not all the believer were struggling in sin.what do you think?

Oh my dear Sister Sunshine. I feel so bad for you. I wish that I could just reach out and hold your hand and somehow look into your eyes and tell you "it's going to be all right." One of the wonderful things that our Heavenly Father has done for you and me is He inspired men like Moses in the Old Testament and the Apostle Paul in the New Testament to write down Father's own words of His promises to us. The Apostle Paul wrote,
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

10:11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.

10:13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Dear Sunshine, I have been a Baptist Pastor most of my life and I'm now 75 years old. I have taught many people to KISS (Keep It Simple Silly) You can trust the Scriptures because God can't lie. You cannot trust your feelings but you can trust God's Word to you all the time. Every thing that the Scriptures said would happened, HAPPENED! If you can't trust what God says, we're all dead in our sins.

The fact that your Savior was crucified, died for your sins according to the Scriptures, and rose again and over 500 people witnessed His resurrection, you can trust what God says. Stop trusting in your feelings, trust the Word of God. I love you. :hug

""Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will go into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the pleasure of my Father in heaven."

Matt 7:21 refers to those who just call Jesus "Lord," but have no faith, love, or joy in doing His will. They cannot expect to enter the kingdom of heaven. These were the Pharisees of Jesus' day. They did al the religious requirements, but had no love for God or others. There are many Pharisees today, but only those who serve from their faith and joy will please God. We should stop trying to earn salvation by doing good things, and rather do good things out of the joy of our salvation. We don't work to get accepted. We work from the joy of having already been accepted in Christ.

just for your opinion,i think maybe you forget a man."There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil."[Job 1:1][kjv]He is a exception.so not all the believer were struggling in sin.what do you think?

Great question. The translation of "perfect" comes from the word "tam" in Hebrew. It was translated "perfect" in the KJV, but it doesn't mean how we mean it today. God told the Israelites to offer up sacrifices "without spot or blemish," which uses the same root word as perfect. The idea is not so much that Job got everything right (and didn't struggle with sin), but that he was without sin - he was "blameless," as other translations publish the same Hebrew word.

As you keep reading, you'll see why he was blameless. You see that he offered daily sacrifices for his sin and the sins of his family. He essentially carried his cross daily and confessed all his sins. As a result, he lived a perfect, or blameless, life. If you read the whole book, you'll find in the end, he struggled with pride and entitlement. God set him straight and forgave him.

All men have struggled with sin. Noah got drunk, but was called a perfect (blameless) man (Gen 6:9). We are all called to be blameless - to confess our sins and be forgiven of them daily. The Lord's Prayer emphasizes this, too.

So once again, I invite you to stop trying so hard to be acceptable to God, and just obey in joy because you are already accepted by receiving Christ. Relax. Take a deep breath. Stop allowing the evil one to keep your focus on your failures and sin. Begin focusing on the fact that your sin is gone. It was nailed to the cross. Jesus took your shame, your blame - in Him you ARE blameless! Praise Him!
