Draino or Liquid Plumber will do the trick they will eat the bug alive, right on the spot.

I'm a plumber and i would eat the bug alive right on the spot, does that count? :lol

Can I get my $7.99 now?

I'm kidding. A bug from a drain? Eww.

plumbers in the know (concerned with everyone's health and the environment) tell their patrons to never use liq plum nor dano. (mispelt for legal reasons).

there's other better much much much safer ways.

I have something living in the drain in my shower :eek It comes out everynight and wonders around in my shower. It is black and it hops because when I tried to catch it the thing hopped back down the drain.

This is what it looks like except it is black.I poured pure bleach down the drain hopeing to get rid of it.Any ideas how to get rid of the thing?

crickets, and ants too btw, eat roaches and other bad things , so leave the crickets alone unless they start to eat your food (ants too). they're a natural, Yhwh provided way to help reduce other worse things.

Well, they have a much stronger version in the supply house. The real stuff, and it works.

the only place this "grocery store" stuff has a use is on bathtub/showers and lav sinks which are still draining slow. If it's stopped up solid and not draining at all, then don't use it. If it's draining slow, then it's ok because it will dissolve the hair and soap scum as it drains. Always use the gel type or at least the thickest mixture available. This is to slow down the draining of it away and give it a chance to work. it's only hair and soap scum which is dissolved by these mixtures, so do not ever try to use it on a kitchen sink stoppage because it wont work (no matter what the advertising says, and please don't do this to the poor roto-rooter man who will have to come work in this drain water!) The store bought stuff is "okay" for the hair and soap scum stoppages of lav sinks and tubs. "okay" not great.

They have stuff in the supply house that will work on other stoppages, but it's more expensive and very dangerous to use if you don't know what you're doing. It's usally only used in commercial environments. Generally not recommended for homeowner use.

Ok, this one is $79.95 because this is good info. :nod

no no no no no no no ---- no chemicales !!!!!!!!

look for and use and learn about and use enzymes,($12 for many months supply)
or vinegar and baking soda
or a snake
or a bladder.

nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing toxic or deadly or sick.

I was trained as a plumber in the Army and a water treatment specialist ' I don't do to much plumbing anymore' except when it comes to my house.

Enzymes are for use on places with a septic tank system.
I'll agree with you this much, you probably are better off not using chemicals. NOTHING beats an electric snake to clear drain stoppages. :)

who told you that ? (enzymes are for septic tank system )
why did you listen to them ?

(they're very totally wrong, except of course that enzymes can be used for septic systems.... think about this for 3 to 7 years- WHY ONLY SEPTIC SYSTEMS ?? , and after you use enzymes for any hair/grease/paper type plumbing blockage, or just (better) to prevent a blockage in the first place,
you'll be much much much better off. )

remember, enzymes eat up grease, paper, and hair, and make it all go by by. and they're safe and inexpensive and not toxic.

p.s. i've snaked a lot of in house and out of house sewer lines.
i've also cleared a lot of lines with enzymes (kitchen, bathroom sinks, tubs, in/under house drain lines. )
there's even enzymes labeled such, for slow in house lines or stopped up lines,
and available at hardware stores and wally world.
they work great.

the one thing that worked the best was AMway's brand 'drainmate'. it was safe enough a person could drink it,
and it would eat through a styrofoam cup in less than a second,
and grease / hair/ etc stoppages faster than any chemical product.

course, the bad guys did away with it's availability.

It was some guy named Mr. Experience. :lol
I've been doing this a long time and seen them used and so forth, but nothing I've seen has given me any confidence in them. Maybe they work in the laboratory, but not in the field.

You've seen them work? stinkeye

Oh, come on brother, are you sure that you're not stretching this just a wee bit? stinkeye:lol

I've watched them poured down the drain too, with no effect beyond money down the drain. They still needed it snaked. Opening drains is how I busted into the trade (oh that stinky truck).

With all due respect, I don't buy that. I'd have to see it with my own eyes. Something either works or it doesn't, and if it did, I wouldn't mind recommending it, but I've seen it's use touted numerous times, and demonstrated, and it never worked. I'm not saying that it doesn't work (over time), but it isn't going to clear a stoppage. I can see it's use in a septic system where it will sit in the tank and break down the matter, and perhaps extend the time between pump downs. Maybe even a system which has a long horizontal line from the kitchen sink which is a troublesome slow drainer, as a preventative measure. But you seem to be saying that it will clear clogs, and I don't buy that! I think all this stuff really does is to teach people that it's ok to put grease down their drains, and they don't really have to be careful about what they put down it. :nono :lol

You are a plumber hu?

Yes I am. I never went down and took the Masters test, choosing rather to take the Mechanical test, and became a licensed Mechanical Contractor (Heating & A/C). Playing with wires is more fun than playing with toilets, lol. Plus, now I don't have to spend my weekends unstopping friends toilets for free, lol. :lol

Something's going on here which isn't surfacing. You seem very adamant about them. Maybe you're used to using a better brand mixture of them than I've ever seen...or maybe, the stopped up drains in your area aren't as tough as the ones we get out here?

yes, i saw it work, many times. enzymes aren't 'fast', may take over night, but they work very well in stopped up kitchen sink lines and other household (maybe commercial, if they can wait; or better =very good= to use every month or 2 to maintain clean drains.)

nope, not stretching anything. the same stuff they use in septic systems to keep them fluid :) works in house drains too. again, not as fast as fatal chemicals, but i prefer good breathing when possible :)

oh, there was never any question whether drainmate worked and worked faster than drno and liquid bomber, --- it was those greedy corporations who pushed through (bribed) congress to pass laws to prevent the competition by outlawing safe drainmate and grandfathering in the poison drain cleaners that had already been in use quite a while.

Commercial, where they can wait?! Good one brother! :rofl2

IME, they wont wait, for almost anything. A stopped up drain in a restaurant really hurts them, they want it open NOW. And if the heat or A/C goes down, they want it done now because if they don't then they know that people will start "getting sick" and going home. And Supermarkets...better get that fridge working now before they lose 200K worth of product (and blame us!).

They sent me to a Home Depot once where the ventilation system went down...and they had a stopped up toilet! I could smell it as soon as I walked in the front door, and the bathroom was in the back. :drool :lol

What about Coke? They say it's good for cleaning toilets, I wonder what it would do for a clogged drain.
