Hi y'all!
I like coffee.
I'm really into coffee.
I worked for coffee companies for years.
I roast my own coffee.

Do you like coffee?
Is there any particular coffee you like better than others?

I'm curious because if there is a coffee out there that I haven't tried yet that might be good, I'd like to try it.

You are blessed with a simple enjoyment.....I am working torwards having such a basic desire.....

You asked for it....
your love of coffee is simplistic!
You should aspire for larger things.....:)

Hawaiian Kona.
A bit pricey but worth it as a treat now and then. :)

I agree, Kona coffee is the best.

My daughter keeps me supplied. She lives in Hawaii - four years in Kona, now on Oahu here she works as an architect - has friends who grow and roast it, and sends me a few pounds at a time.

Every island has it's own version, and I particularly like Molokai Peaberry.

I'm addicted to caffeine. That means if I go for more than like 14 hours without coffee I get the worst headache and nausea in the world. I've tried to get off the caffeine, but after one day without I could only sit in the corner of the room and cry in desperation. Maybe the day will come when I'm willing to face that anguish and go through the withdrawal, but I wouldn't mind keeping this addiction until the day I die. Low or moderate doses of coffee are actually beneficial for your health.

I usually buy fair trade organical coffee because I'm a crazy leftist liberal socialist environmentalist. :biggrin
But it's actually a good deal, paying a little bit more than for "normal" coffee, and that extra money helps the coffee farmers in South America or Africa or Asia make a better life for themselves or their communities and also supporting sustainable farming. It's like giving a small donation with every purchase.

Freshly roasted and - what do you call the process of pulverising the beans? grinding? milling? - and freshly ground coffee is one of the best smells in the world. :)

Have you tried kopi luwak? You can read an article about it here and a review here.

That stuff is.... interesting... but I hope you noticed that most of the animals involved in the production are held in captivity under horrible conditions? In drinking that kind of coffee you would support animal cruelty.

Hawaiian is high priced.
I've bought direct from the plantation and have been disappointed.
But I do know the best when I taste it.

I may be a bit old fashioned but top of the line Colombian is as good as any in my book.
I also prefer Costa Rican, Kenya AA, Mocha Java, and Yemen Mocha Matari.

For your information, mocha and peaberry are particular types of coffee beans, and a third word after the coffee almost always refers to the plantation where the beans are picked.

I'm obsessed with iced coffee. Everybody makes it now--Starbuck's, Dunkin' Donuts, even McDonald's and Burger King. Very simple, very sugary, very refreshing. I may have to get some flavor syrup and start making my own.

There's a link in the article to animalcoffee.com. They only sell coffee that is "harvested" in the wild and not from caged animals.

I know what peaberry means. It's a bean that develops when only one bean is produced rather than two. The normal two berry beans are called flat berries.

Another good coffee is Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Since most of my congregation are Jamaican, I have to put in a plug for Blue Mountain. It is good...and expensive.

If you like supporting local small producers with a fair price, I'll send you the information for ordering from my daughter's friends. They'll ship anywhere, and I like supporting them. Especially the girl, she's cute. :)

I like coffee with the right amount of creamer. Most restaurants don't provide enough creamer for my tastes, so I normally just drink it at home.
Too much creamer and you might as well not even bother using coffee, though.

questdriven: Don't let too much of it keep you awake at night, though... Blessings.

I like to add hot cocoa and peppermint syrup to my coffee.. I've been doing this for years and now it's popularly called a peppermint mocha.

I make my coffee with a coffee press rather than an electric coffee maker as it allows me to control the strength of the coffee while it's being made - I can make a mild cup of coffee for one person and a strong cup of coffee for another from the same brew.
