"15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst."

How many of us ever feel this way about ourselves? What do you think Paul would wander around just being depressed that he was the Chief of sinners? What is amazing, there is so much amazing, for now lets realize this was Paul's claim after he had been used to write most of the N.T. How different he saw himself than most Christians see themselves. There is much reason for the joy seen and heard from Christians after all one of my favorite passages says "there will be the sound of joy and victory in the tents of the righteous. BTW, tents in Scripture are used to illustrate these bodies we live in so there should be those sounds from us. But should we not also come to know that we are such great sinners that nothing but the Holy and Righteous Lamb of God could die and save me. I have to believe that the sounds of joy and victory coming out of that human tent named Paul must have been sweet indeed.

I am the chief of sinners and the Lord still came for me how to explain it when its almost too hard to understand it. What mighty love.

Such good, and powerful points!
I really enjoy this section of Timothy because it speaks of both willful and unwilful disobedience.

1 Timothy 1:12-13 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
I have been walking with Christ for 40 years now and I can't tell you how many times I was ignorant, even within recent years. I like what Paul says here because for me, is speaks of repentance. You see, he once persecuted and was winked at Christians who were being put to death, but once the scales fell off his eyes, he went on the quest of his life.

I can only imagine how Paul felt humbling himself before the Lord during his conversion on the road to Damascus knowing what he had done as he slaughtered Christians doing this in the name of God. I can almost hear him say, "why me Lord, when it is you who should have destroyed me for killing your children".

This takes me back to Genesis where it repented God that He created man and was about to destroy all of them as their hearts turned away from Him as they were full of iniquity. Just to think it was by one faithful man named Noah that God's grace still abounds.

Genesis 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
