As the title says, this topic is for the bring together of scripture references that speak of the end time. I am making this topic because I want to know about what is coming next. I hear these terms like "Pre-Mill", "Post-Mill", "Mill", etc., etc. but I have no clue what they are. I also don't have the tools, yet, to evaluate these different views because I am not acquainted with the various Bible verses on the end of days. And so, I would like that this topic be used exclusively for the compilation of end time scripture, and for nothing else.

My hope is that I, and others, will be able to easily find the verses that speak of such matters and then come to a conclusion between ourselves and God as to what is the right and proper truth of the matter.

Wow, Pard. That's a big order to fill. And you won't find any agreement here at this forum as you will probably end up more confused than ever.

I'll give you an overview what I believe based on the feasts of the LORD. Those obscure feasts in Leviticus 23 where actually prophetic shadows of things to come (Colossians 2:17) in which the substance was found in Christ. What substance? The work of Christ regarding his plan to redeem all of mankind, and His coming Kingdom to this earth (the way it was intended in the garden before Adam fell). Christ will restore all things.

First Coming:

Passover (Christ sacrificed for sin)
Unleavened Bread (ours is coming out of sin to the new life in Christ, this also foreshadowed his interment)
Firstfruits (the resurrection of Christ---firstborn amongst many brethren)
Pentecost (the "birthday" of the church when the firstfruits of God's salvation aka the church was given the Spirit of God. In the OT, it was the natural man following the Law. in the NT it's by the Spirit.)

Now is the present age, and it will close with (the next thing to come) what is commonly called the Tribulation and the Day of the Lord.

Second Coming:

Feast of Trumpets (the return of Christ, the gathering of his people, and resurrection of his saints)
Day of Atonement (Christ starts the millennium with his ruling saints by putting away of Satan represented by the goat left lose in the wilderness, and purging the remaining rebels. In Matthew Jesus said at his return when he takes the throne, that he will judge the sheep from the goats)
Tabernacles This is where the earth starts to be regenerated with the 1000 year reign of Christ with his saints. They will rule righteously and with the perfect government of God many more in this age will be saved than those in what is now commonly called the "church age".
Last Great Day of Tabernacles feast (the Great White throne Judgement after the millennium) This is where all those who were never called, i.e. never given the chance or heard the gospel will be raised and given opportunity to accept the Lord's Salvation. There will be many masses of people saved then. Also, there will be a raising of the wicked dead and whoever's name is not written in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. Peter talks about the heavens and earth melting with fervent heat and the wicked will be destroyed forever.

At this point, as Revelation and Isaiah, etc point out will be a new heavens and new earth and heaven will be here indeed. The old earth was destroyed, or I should say purged, of fire and renovated to be completely new. Anything of the past ages (such as the lake of fire) are gone forever, there's no more sorrow or crying and all that is forgotten.

This is just a very general outline as to what major events to expect, and I left out details, such as the role of Israel in all this just to give you an overview. You can find the scriptures that teach these things yourself, as many are found in Matthew 24-25, Revelation, some of the epistles of Paul, the OT Law and so forth. The real issue is that folks tend to disagree on "how to put these passages together." That's why it's important to know the order of the feasts and the times. They are laid out straightforward and written in the sun, moon and stars which man cannot change.

If there's any specific passage you cannot find as to why certain things are as I mentioned, just let me know.

Pard... before you head into post mid and pre... Read the scriptures

From Genesis through The Revelation.....

Let God talk to ya, not all the books good hearted man have written..... 2 of those 3 ideas are not going to be correct and then theres amil and preterest. YIKES!

I pray you open your mind/spirit anew, to His Word asking Him for the knowledge you seek....

Good well meaning people can get stuff wrong....

When i ask Him for some understanding letting go of years and years of teaching was very difficult.

There is no general widely held consensus amongst believers. That is why there are at least six, count 'em, six general and only major overview positions. Having spent no small amount of time in study of these matters under every major understanding above, there remains holes that all of them can not fill.

After 30 years plus of study, even intense study from not only the above, but from extra-biblical, metaphysical, mystic and literal only approaches NONE of them are able to capture the complexities of the matters. They are assuredly one thing, complex. And the fact that they are correlative i.e. allegorical is beyond question in my own mind.

In any analysis a general view will be that the Revelation itself is the Revealing of Christ in us, the unveiling so to speak. How can we even capture that anyway? Do you really want to? I don't think any of us are able by the texts statements of fact anyway. We all factually see only in part and imperfectly. That is part of what Revelation shows us.

The other fact that I (personally) have concluded is that the workings of various powers will be put aside permanently, that is on the dark side of the ledgers.

So there is a very simple division. The Perfect from the imperfect. As perfect a look as we will get in our current imperfections, unless one wants to delve off into fantasy of current status, which does not interest me much for some reason. Nor do I accept that everything is Perfect presently and that all is fulfilled, as some views take.

enjoy!

That's what I intended to do, get it from God, which is why I was hoping people could help collect the scriptures that speak of end times. There are lots of them and many are in obscure and unexpected parts of the Bible...

Pard let me get back to you, perhaps by PM later on. I have many end time scriptures underlined in my bible, especially in the OT. I have these same underlines in a .doc file format and I can copy and paste these end time scriptures in a message to you. However, there are "other" topics I underlined as well, so I have to separate them out and will take a little time. BTW, I placed these underlines in a .doc file so that if I ever got a new bible I could transpose the same markings and notes over. I did this once already and believe me, it took quite awhile!

Diving off the deep end, heh Ian? :biggrin

I can't help much because some of what is considered "text book" end times passages isn't at all.

Observe, study and learn without blinders and slowly but surely, if it's really something you desire, the pieces will begin to fit.

Oh, take Reba's advice above. :thumbsup

Ian, the biggest issue is, people will give you passages that are going to fit their eschatology. Take it and run with it, but with the guidance of the Spirit, come to your own conclusions. :nod

Hint: put things into cultural and historical context and read things literal, not literalistic. There is a difference between the two.

It's very simple: when reading the Bible, use the plain, simple words used to describe the who, what, when, where, and why as a framework to understand the symbolic language. If you start trying to guess what the symbolic means, you'll get completely "lost in the sauce." With that in mind, start with verses like these:

"For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." Matthew 16:27-28 (NASB)

I do fully testify, then, before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is about to judge living and dead at his manifestation and his reign-- 2 Timothy 4:1 (YLT)

having hope toward God, which they themselves also wait for, that there is about to be a rising again of the dead, both of righteous and unrighteous; Acts 24:15 (YLT)

You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. James 5:8 (NASB)

Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. James 5:9 (NASB)

But this I say, brethren, the time has been shortened, so that from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none; and those who weep, as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess; and those who use the world, as though they did not make full use of it; for the form of this world is passing away. 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 (NASB)

Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 1 Corinthians 10:11 (NASB)

in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. Hebrews 1:2 (NASB)

The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. 1 Peter 4:7 (NASB)

Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. 1 John 2:18 (NASB)
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. Revelation 1:1-3 (NASB)

~'Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. ~'I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown. Revelation 3:10-11 (NASB)

And he said to me, "These words are faithful and true"; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place. "And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book." Revelation 22:6-7 (NASB)

And he *said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. Revelation 22:10 (NASB)

"Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. Revelation 22:12 (NASB)

He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:20 (NASB)

since it had behoved him many times to suffer from the foundation of the world, but now once, at the full end of the ages, for putting away of sin through his sacrifice, he hath been manifested; Hebrews 9:26 (YLT)

All of these passages were written by first century writers before 70 AD. Taken together, they form an interpretive framework upon which every other "end time" verse needs to be understood.

With a preconception like that you're just going to end up disappointed. Better to first know about what has already come. Get an audio-bible and listen to the old testament at your leisure.

Yes, it's the principle of 'sufficient evil' for the day:

Matthew 6:34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Many of these so called forms of end times views are nothing more than future fortune telling sorcery.

I don't know about anyone else, but I usually have my daily hands full. I really have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow, but I trust God in Christ will work things out sufficiently in any case of tomorrow and yesterday is left behind.

On the far end of the scale of Revelation is fear for your own life in perpetuity. If one considers their body dead because of sin, there is no much use for fear, anxiety and apprehensions and even less the need for future fortune telling.

Post millers are fairly rare these days. Here is an old picture of some of them.

Christ has Matt. 24 as Prophecy already done & some to yet again be extended (grafted in) up to His bodily Second Coming. Eccl. 3:15! If not, what is to be done with verse 14?:chin And verses 1 on to verse 21?? These verses will only awaken the 'VERY ELECT' huh?:sad

Matt. 24
[1] And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
[2] And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
[3] And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of [[the end of the world?]]
