It may be a British thing, it has always been used a lot over there. You can use it next time you're out. If someone asks do you want a cookie? You can say, "alright, you've twisted my arm."

Boy, the English language is really violent. "Break a leg" means good luck, "twisting an arm" means that you've persuaded somebody,.. maybe I should make up one. From now on I'm going to say that a punch on the arm means that you like somebody,.. no wait a second,.. guys have pretty much already have done that one as well. I hate to think what they would do if they didn't like somebody. :lol

Pull the other one/you're pulling my leg, means you think someone is tricking you. My grandma always used that one. The English language is colorful for sure. :eek

Yeah I've heard of that one as well. There's also pulling the finger,.. but we don't want to go down that route. :lol (As it goes against the TOS.)

Ditto! Yeah probably a good idea. There is another one we used in the UK, but it almost violates every rule on the forum at the same time, and StoveBolts would ban me from the forum before I could type retract! :dunce

You can always PM me. :wink JohnDB pretty much encourages behavior that goes against the TOS in PM's. Or at least, the way ours turn out. LOL!!! XDD!!! :hysterical And no, you really don't want to know. :lol

Ok...
I'm a little rough around the edges...I am one of the great unwashed and especially grubby construction workers.

But I generally keep it as kleen as possible for mixed company and at church.

You and I tend to just exchange bathroom humor privately...but in mixed company (the washed vx the unwashed) we don't.
Mostly because we don't want people to feel uncomfortable or misunderstand what our primary focus is.

Rules are there for a reason. It's not for making us feel holy but so that everyone can feel welcome.

Understandable. :) Now PM me if you have any new fart jokes because I want to hear them all! :lol

BK, we use "arm-twisting" here in US, you just be sure to say "yall" and not "you guys" (that's Californian)

I have a story of Lone Star brewery from my Air Force Reserve days...

The only Spanish you need to know is "una mas cerveza"

One of my closest friends lives in Fort Worth, so he's been giving me the run through; but thank you, every little helps.
Please tell me the story, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for the Spanish line; do you know, 'forget the bottles, bring the crate'? :chin

Don't know the "crate", BK

After 7 years active duty AF, I got in Reserves in San Antonio

One day we had an exercise, pack a duffel bag, get in fatigues, go to Kelly AND get on a plane as if we were really going somewhere

In line with my duffel bag, the vision of my shot records laying on the kitchen counter came in my mind, I forgot them, left 'em at home

I asked how long I had - not long enough to go home and get shot records

Well, what happens?

"You gotta take all the shots in your shot records - right here"

These 2 medic airmen had a blast, filling up two 'guns' with all the innoculations, I took off my fatigue shirt, rolled up t-shirt sleeves, and BAM BAM BAM BAM - all those shots in my upper arms all at once, duffel bag stuff was inspected, we all got on the plane

Once all counted - exercise over, got off plane and headed to a meeting at Lone Star brewery

I was woozy and dizzy from all the shots

Saw our Brigadier General, asked him "Did we win the war, General?" "We sure did, Lieutenant"

I vaguely remember eating dinner at the Brewery

Awesome story, thanks for sharing that! :salute
Crate in the UK is how beer would be delivered to a bar; is a plastic retainer that holds about 12, 11.2 fl oz bottles.
