hi there. welcome to CFnet. Tessa is from the UK, also.

i have an acquaintance living in England. She says that its a thoroughly secularized, post-Christian nation. Has that been your experience?

again: welcome to CFnet. :)
I'm travelling through UK. I have spent some time in London, and a few weeks in Scotland. One thing is interesting, there are many beautiful old church buildings in Glasgow that have been sold and converted into restaurants and drinking clubs. Yes the majority of people I meet are either old wineskins or new wine skins with no real interest in carrying wine (Luke 5:38-39).

Hi and welcome Serving Zion it's nice to meet you.

That's an interesting thought and great analogy. As you can see, we're not a large community... it seems most Christian folk just like to argue their faith but here, we try to build up the body and encourage one another.

Welcome!

:clap:clap:clap it sounds like you know what the ideal expression of faith might look like!

"They will know you are my disciples by your consolidation through a statement of faith love for one another".

Thanks for making me welcome here! .. nice work on the website! :wave

welcome to the forum - praying you find really good friends here

sounds like you are on fire for God and are being set up to spread His goodness to those who don't realize the things you do

most people are a product of what they have been taught

i used to complain about the state of christians and God told me one day to cut it out

He said teach them don't complain about them - they are doing the best they can based on what they have been taught - My people perish for lack of knowledge - Hosea 4:6

i have been blessed most by sharing God's goodness with others who don't realize all the good stuff God said in the bible - all His promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus - 2 Corinthians 1:20
That's very insightful, and I appreciate your words. I see, each has been given grace according to the portion of the gift of Messiah to them, and the one who has been forgiven much will love much - hence why they are destroyed for the lack of knowledge, for their builders did not stand in the counsel of Adonai to turn His people from their wicked way - so they build a weak wall of plaster (I actually saw someone doing that last year, plastering mortar over polystyrene!).

Nice to see you here, are you in Israel?

Oh, wow! .. so yeah, the community is a bit bigger than I had thought! :biggrin

.. Italy, hmmm, that's a really nice idea! .. what's it like for an English traveller over there? Do the people know much English? .. are they happy to speak it? I'm a bit restricted to travelling in countries where I can speak naturally :)

:thumbsup amen - well said

the truth sets people free - the more of God's truth we share the more excited people get - it's not really us - God's truth has ALL HIS POWER in HIS WORDS

our part is really easy - just share the truth God shared with us from scripture

and then watch the fun begin - hurting people will end up finding relief - healing - protection - peace - etc as they hear truth clearly spoken

i'm not in the land of isreal - it is a goal one day if the Lord permits

Heh, the home page is far from done. I hope to work on it over the Christmas holiday. :)

It's ironic that you brought up our statement of faith. Hear me out.
We like to focus on who's in and who's out. Honestly, Christian forums can be anything but Christian at times as we bite and devour one another in our own self-righteousness.

In Luke 10 we have an expert in the law giving Jesus a litmus test as he questions Jesus on his doctrine. Jesus, the expert asks, what is the greatest commandment?

Jesus passes the test, he agrees with the doctrine of the Pharisee. But wanting to justify himself, the teacher of the law probes further and asks, who is my neighbor.

We want to know who our neighbor is, don't we? We want to know who we have to love, and who we can walk on by and leave them to waste. And so Jesus tells the story of the good Samaritan.

But here is the twist, Jesus isn't too concerned with defining who is in and who is out...

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Jesus tells us to be a good neighbor to anyone in need.

So, why do we have a statement of faith? Good question. From my perspective, it's to let folks know what we believe and to bring up discussions if need be. Our statement of faith isn't a litmus test for new members and we don't use it to divide the body of Christ. What it gave us was a platform to build a community that had enough theological thought in common that our time can be spent uplifting and growing one another in our faith instead of the endless arguing that only served the ego and further divided us.

God bless.
