Yes, OSAS is the truth.

1 Peter 1:23;
"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God".

When you are truly born again, this imperishable seed is in us forever.
You cannot walk away from the living presence of God within you.
You have believed in Jesus, Romans 6:23; and this is God's gift in return.

1 Peter builds up our faith in God to help us bear this life as a Christian.
Those who take it to heart are truly born again.

:thumbsupI am with you on this one brother.

"When you are truly born again, this imperishable seed is in us forever".

Key words here.Was the person truly born again or saved to begin with?

How does one know they are born again?

Romans 10:9-10;

Romans 10....(NKJV)
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Explain the confession part. What exactly does one have to say in order for it to be a confession?

It's in your heart.
If Jesus is in your heart, then it is easy to say "Jesus is Lord", and in your spirit you know it is true and that you believe it.

So all one has to do is say "Jesus is Lord" and believe he died and came back to life and they're saved?

If it comes from your heart, then yes.

John 6:29;
This is the work of God; to believe in the one he has sent.

Uncle Mark cursed God big time, on his death bed was he still saved .? asking for real opinions...

So as long as someone truly believes in their heart, they can continue to sin and they'll still be saved?
Do you really believe that Gary?
Do you continue to sin on purpose?
Doesn't the Holy Spirit have more of a hold on you than that?

It's not about what I believe. It's about a doctrine you're teaching. I'm asking on behalf of all those out there that can't ask or won't. Maybe there's someone watching that doesn't quite understand what you're saying. I'm just asking for clarity.

I know that Gary.
And I'm answering in a way they can understand.

What I get from what you've stated is that all someone has to do to be saved is to confess Jesus is Lord and believe in His death and resurrection. I see no mention of any changes that need to take place or if those changes are even required.

I'm just asking...

After you give your heart to Jesus, the Holy spirit will convict you of things in your life that need changing.
You can respond to that or not, but the conviction stays.
And if you love Jesus, and want to please God, changes will happen in your life and the blessings will come.

So then, if I don't want to change I don't have to, but I'm still saved?

Gary, when the Holy Spirit came upon you, did you want to please God?
Did you want to change the things you were doing wrong?
Did you not hear God speak to you about things?

Salvation is by grace, through faith. Eph 2:8. If one must change their behavior in order to be saved, then grace is eliminated. Does that make sense to you? Grace is receiving something that you didn't earn. A changed lifestyle DOES earn the believer something, but it isn't salvation. It is blessing in time and reward in eternity.

Unfortunately, many believers confuse and conflate the issues of how one gets saved with how one grows spiritually. If changing one's lifestyle (cleans it up) results in salvation, then we are saved by that; a change in lifestyle. Yet there are no verses that say that or even suggest that. otoh, there are many verses that tell us that we receive salvation, eternal life, forgiveness and adoption as sons by faith. We can't earn any of these things, but God gives them by grace to those who believe.

The real issue in this thread seems to be what "saving faith" is specifically. Saving faith needs an object, and a purpose or goal.

The object is the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the sins of mankind. No other object will do, per Acts 4:12.
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

The purpose or goal of faith in Christ is to receive salvation, or eternal life. 1 Pet 1:9
for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Trusting in Christ means to trust Him with your soul for eternity.

Once a person has saving faith, then next order of business is to grow up spiritually into Christ-likeness. Eph 4:15 and 1 Pet 2:2.
