Let's see if we can agree on some basic facts about the Greek word pisteuo..

The Strong's tells us this word "pisteuo", used 248 times is the corresponding verb to the noun Pistis. Pistis is where we get our English word and noun " Faith" . Pistis is used 245 times in the NT.

Only reply if you don't agree with the facts above or the ones I'll be presenting.

The Strong's specifically states, " pisteuo means NOT just to believe."

The Vines specifically defines pisteuo as " a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender. Producing a full acknowledgement of Gods revelation of truth."

Here is the rest of the Vines definition of pisteuo. This is very important to those who think saving Faith is " believing" in God's word.

"Pisteuo is a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender. Producing a full acknowledgement of Gods revelation of truth. All this stands in contrast to belief in it's purely natural exercise, which consists of an opinion held in good faith without necessary reference to its proof. The object of Abraham's Faith was not God's promise ( that was the occasion of its exercise) his Faith rested on God Himself."

Word for word out of the Vines sitting on my lap!

More facts about pisteuo.

Pisteuo could not be correctly translated into the English language, because the English language doesn't have a corresponding verb to the noun Faith like the Greek does for the noun Pistis.

The word Faith is a noun! Saving Faith is an action word, a verb. The English language doesn't have a verb form of Faith.

This is what started the problem.

More facts about pisteuo.
The words the English language should have had for the translators are faithe, faither, and faithing. Of course with their correct definitions.

The word " believe " is the corresponding verb to the noun and word " Belief ", NOT the noun and word " Faith ".

Pisteuo is an act, based upon a Belief, sustained by confidence. 3 specific aspects with a specific object of Faith.

We fulfill those 3 aspects of pisteuo hundreds of times a day. Most of them have nothing to do with the our commitment to God.

More facts about pisteuo.

Here is an example of the everyday fulfillment of pisteuo, or the application of Faith.

1) when you went to sleep last night, did you make sure there was enough oxygen in the room?

Of course not! We performed the act of getting into bed, based on the belief that there was sufficient oxygen, sustained by the confidence of falling asleep for hours. And like most true fulfilments of pisteuo, our lives are at stake.

2) when you got into your car, did you check the air pressure in your tires? Did you check to make sure your gas tank wasn't leaking?

No! You fulfilled the act by getting into the car, based upon the belief that the car is working properly, sustained by the confidence of driving the car with the chance something is possibly not working and cost you your life. Everything unseen, with our lives depending on it.

3) when you drove through the intersection, did you make sure the person who has the red light was paying attention and stopping for the red light?

Of course not!

We drive through the intersections with an action, based upon the belief that the person going the other way will be doing what they are supposed to be doing, with the sustained action of driving through the intersection.

We don't see the object of Faith, the other driver. But our life hangs in the balance, depending on what that other person decides to do.

These examples are just a few of hundreds of acts of fulfilled pisteuo each day. Most have nothing to do with our calling from God. Each time we fulfill pisteuo, is has a specific object of Faith, a specific act of Faith, based upon a specific belief, sustained by a specific kind of confidence.

A semi driver will check his daily and also with Tmps that tell you if the tire is low ,or if the sensor goes flash .

That's not true for most drivers. But I'm sure even a truck driver can't see all the hidden dangers that could cost him his life, that he is faithing on.

The specific fulfillment of saving Faith.

Keeping in mind the exact definitions of pisteuo from the Strong's and Vines .

Strong's, " pisteuo means NOT just to believe."

Vines, " Pisteuo is a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender.

Fulfilling pisteuo correctly in relationship to the living God is the act of personally surrendering our lives to Him.

Based upon the belief, that He will accept the surrendered life.

Sustained by the many daily decisions that are made inspired or showing our lives are nolonger Ours but His now.

Okay, yes................. My faith is such that I don't doubt that God will do what he says he will do. Like the oxygen I know I need to breath.

Philippians 2:12-13 He is is doing his will through me
