Well Thanksgiving is over and although I still have quite a bit of leftovers and a homecooked Thanksgiving meal,.. Christmastime is here again!! Tomorrow I start my Christmas countdown and Sunday I start my second annual "It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year" Christmas celebration,.. but right now I am totally pooped! I went to the mall on Black Friday and it was a total nightmare! At least I'll sleep good tonight.
Anyways although I'm really excited about getting things off of my Christmas list, (The Greatest Showman and Descendants 3 are top on my list. ) I'm really excited to find out how I'm going to see the love of Christ being shown this year as Christmas is all about celebrating the birth of Jesus. And in my book there is something that money can't buy which are the four ings. Caring, sharing, giving, loving as that's what's Christmas really should be about. So I thought that maybe in this thread we can share about how we can see the love of God and show the love of God.
Whether it be donating to a charity, or opening the door for someone, or wishing somebody a merry Christmas and putting a smile on somebody's face who might not have gotten it otherwise. For it really is sad to see how selfish the world has become. We might be celebrating the birth of Christ but He is the least selfish of them all since we're the ones who got the greatest gift of all. I saw a quote somewhere about how God made a way in a manger and yet for a lot of people it seems like Christmas has just become a way to get presents. (Isn't that what birthdays are for? ) The sad part is that it's only going to get worse yet God knew that and He sent Jesus into the world anyways because of His unconditional love for us. Although we certainly did not deserve it.
I think that's something else that Christmas should be about. Being kind to others whether they deserve it or not and take the high road. That's what Jesus wants His followers to do anyways. Matthew 5:43. I believe that the richest man in the world could still be very unhappy because his gold isn't going to keep him company and isn't going to love him back the way that the Lord can and your family and friends can.
There's a quote in Jim Carrey's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" (which is the best version of the film in my mind ) that says that one man doesn't need anything else for Christmas but his family, and when all is said and done I really don't either. Sure there are things that I want,.. but when it comes to things I need I feel like God has already given it all to me. So on that note there's only one thing I have left to say,.. I hope that everybody here on CF has a very merry Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year!!
