I've seen one of these kinds of things before and I just wanted to make my own. :) Especially since that even though Jesus is greater than Santa, there are still a lot of wonderful things about him as well. :wink

1. Santa Claus can get around the whole entire world in one night, BUT Jesus can get anywhere in the world and many different places at exactly the same time!

2. Santa Claus drives a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer, (nine if you count Rudolph) BUT Jesus shines His light through the night to guide them. (And us)

3. Santa Claus loves milk and cookies, BUT Jesus loves us.

4. Santa Claus will let you sit on his lap, BUT Jesus will hold you in His arms.

5. Santa Claus has to ask for your name, BUT Jesus already knows your name and everything about you including the number of hairs on your head.

6. Santa Claus brings us presents, BUT Jesus brings us eternal life.

7. Santa Claus breaks into your house in the middle of the night by going down the chimney, BUT Jesus knocks at the door and waits to be invited.

8. Santa Claus knows when you're sleeping and when you're awake, BUT Jesus knows every desire of your heart.

9. Santa Claus only visits your house on Christmas Eve, BUT Jesus is ALWAYS with you.

10. Santa Claus has a list of who's been naughty and who's been nice, BUT Jesus has an entire book written about you and every single moment from your life since you were born.

11. Finally Santa Claus only brings you presents to you if you deserve it, BUT Jesus gives you the gift of eternal life even though He knows that you don't deserve it.

Now that isn't to say that the spirit of Santa Clause isn't incredibly important. After all, that's what Santa is all about. :biggrin2 However let's always remember that Santa didn't die on the cross for us, Jesus did. It isn't called Santamas, it's called Christmas. So even though I believe that it's perfectly alright for children to put out milk and cookies for Santa, I believe that they should also know why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

When I was very young I believed Santa existed. I also believed Jesus existed. I have noted though I never prayed to or worshiped Santa like I do with Jesus.

I believe that the spirit of Santa Claus exists,.. and to an extent that spirit is Jesus because He is always giving and always loving. :)

The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It's believed he was born around 28AD in Patara near Myra in modern today Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness he became the subject of many legends. It's said the he gave away all of his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick. Overtime his popularity spread and he became known as the protect of children who maintained a positive reputation.

Whether a myth or not this is what Jesus would that we all should be devoted to one another as all are our neighbor and we need to be walking in love and charity within our heart.

Jesus is the reason for the season, but throughout the whole year.

Jesus is real. Santa is not.

That depends on what you mean by that. No there's no fat old guy with a beard working up at the North Pole with a bunch of reindeer and elves. However like Deb already pointed out, there was in fact a man named Saint Nicholas and I think that if we're loving and giving towards other that's when we become like Santa and having the spirit of Santa Claus is what makes him real. :)

Besides he's very real to children and even though Christmas is really for celebrating the birth of Christ, I don't think that Jesus would be against children having imaginations. After all you're only a kid once and sometimes even I wish I could go back to the days where I believed in Santa, the tooth fairy, and the Easter Bunny. Time goes by so fast and you don't even realize it until it's gone. :sad

Really?? You were never told the story of Santa Claus or you just never believed in him?
You,may not know I grew up without Christmas and was taunted for,my beliefs .

I never believed in Santa.

Same here. I grew up not believing in Santa Claus. My parents told me he is just "a figment of my imagination". My parents told me not to go tell other kids that as some other kids did believe in Santa.

My mom told me that her mother told her Santa wasn't real before so she grew up not believing in Santa as well. My mom was at a friend's house and said Santa wasn't real and her friends mom had a fit and called my mom's mom lol. I mean, she clearly knew haha.

Everybody grows up in different families.

No, not the spirit of Santa Claus. The spirit of Jesus.

What's wrong with having the spirit of both? :)

I'm with WIP on this one. Instead of the spirit of Santa it would be better to say the spirit of giving as that is the spirit of Christ in our celebration of His birth in God giving us the greatest gift. That's one of the reasons I don't decorate to much anymore as I believe the day is for celebrating Jesus and that is what the theme needs to be, especially for an adult. A child can have a fantasy of Santa, but also needs to be taught why we celebrate that day.

Like I said, I don't believe any answer to be the wrong answer unless somebody said that Christmas was about Santa Claus not Jesus. They're both about loving and giving onto others though. Here is another one of my favorites that pretty much covers that. :)

I'm not anti Xmas per se,but giving can be done anytime .in,fact the puritans forbid Xmas ,its pagan to them and was full of revalvry.
And it still is
