Is Jesus Lord?

Brother Mike

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
(1Co 12:3 KJV)

Rom_10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Brother Mike here. Posting just to post, but with some thought. Is Jesus your Lord?
180 verses (KJV) have Jesus and Lord in the same scripture. Should be some type of clue. Right?

I have met a whole lot of people that claim to be believers. I don't want to get into the thing about OSAS or works, but the condition to eternal life appears that Jesus must be Lord. Now a whole lot of folks can say a whole lot of things. Even the operation of Satan can say Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit you can't, Unless He is actually Lord.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
(Col 3:23 KJV)

We are given such a limited time down here on Earth. I mean a breath, and BAM!!! we are gone. People you meet, the church pew you sit in, it's all temporary. It will last but seconds and your gone.

Psa_103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Such a short time here on Earth, and poof your gone. Every single minute, second counts right?

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
(Eph 5:16 KJV)

So, I am asking YOU!!! Is Jesus Lord every moment of the day?

Lord means that Jesus is the focus center of your attention in all you do, all you choose, and all you involve yourself in.

When I wake up, I say good Morning Father!!! What is on the list today? i don't want to waste time, I have a limited amount according to scriptures. I want that time filled with Jesus being the first and foremost on my radar.

Are you trapped in your own things, stuck in a rut?

The good news is you can focus back your time, energy and efforts on the Lord Jesus. Live your life as if there is a plan, and there is a plan. You were not created to be wasted, destroyed, set aside, forgotten. No, you were created with purpose, fearfully and wonderfully made, and a path a race, a goal, a destination.

You are only given so much energy a day. Your flesh (CAN) dictates what you spend that energy on. What are you spending it on?

I submit to you that Jesus must be Lord over all things we do, Keeping Him in mind always. A person like this will always find the plan of God, and see it clearly. They won't be confused on what the purpose of life is.

What do you think? How is your day, is Jesus really Lord?

Mike.

Good morning Mike.
I have the same signature, no matter what site I have been on and I have, oft, been jumped about my proclamation of being a bond servant of the LORD's. Soon after I was saved I was led by the Spirit to understand that, first, I was purchased from the Slave Block and that though He has made me "a" son of the Most High, I am to willingly always be humble in His presence.

Now, before I was, publicly, dunked I knew I was saved and the scriptures inform and they taught me I was indwelt with the Holy Spirit, sealed, the moment I was saved. I am one, solid, Trinitarian and I understand that except for the time the Son of God, Jesus, divested Himself of His divinity, all three Persons of the Godhead know, exactly what the other two think and do.

That means, wherever I go, God goes, all three persons. Knowing this I do my best not to embarrass my Lord and that does require a twenty-four/seven struggle. I would that everyone understood their position in God the way I do. It looks like you know.

Amen Bill. Where we Go, he goes. I suspect the thread won't get much response, because a whole lot of believes are living their lives by conscience that God is not first and foremost in all they do.

Serving the Lord is more than just putting that fish bumper sticker on the back of your car.

Jesus is YHWH, the Lord God Almighty.

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10

YHWH speaking through Zechariah the prophet, foreseeing the sufferings He would endure. 1 Peter 1:10-11

Paul, in writing to the Romans, makes this clear, as it was required by Roman citizens to bow to the image of the Ceaser, and confess the Ceaser as lord.

8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:8-13

This phrase from Joel was a direct reference to YHWH, the Lord God of Israel.

The unbelieving Jews, would not confess Jesus as Lord, YHWH, because they didn't believe He was Lord, but rather they saw Him as just a man, similar to how the Muslims view Him today.

This was called
disobeying the Gospel.

Notice how the scripture uses believe and obey, interchangeably, in the context of this message.

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:14-17

Peace be unto you, and to those who call upon the name of the Lord with a pure conscience.

Thank you for such great insight. I never thought this thread could turn into a works and Faith thread again. I guess it's just a step from it.

If Jesus is not first in all you do, if what you do for him is out of just obedience and not a willing heart, where is the reward?

Using just obedience because you know you should, will ensure that you don't do the job with excellence. You see people just doing their Job, even for the Lord in the land of mediocrity.

Concerning a thread of mine that was removed, I was told by several mods they just volunteered their time here, they don't get paid, and If they don't get back right away, or remember to give the name of what mod deleted what, that is because they have lives outside the forum.

My thought was, did the Lord call you to moderate here, and if the Lord did, then that is the wrong answer. My things at home, are more important than yours Lord. If the Lord did not call you to moderate His people and handle his Word with care, then what the heck are you here for as a moderator?

Is the Lord worth our best in all we do? If yes, then is everything we spend our time on really something the Lord wants us to do if we are just going through the Motions.

If what your doing over time becomes easy, then is it easy because you are satisfied with your standard of being excellent? If you did more, would it make it more excellent?

Flesh is a nasty thing we all have to deal with. Today at church, we have this faith for life classes where we get with other people our age and discuss the day's lesson. Everyone is allowed to share things with others.

1) I was bored.
2) I was irritated at some of the stupid things other said, and despised their lack of simple revelation.
3) I was only thinking of myself and how I felt, not about others who might be getting helped for being there and being allowed to speak.
4) I had a few times I could have shared revelation, but I felt the folks to dumb to understand right away, so I did not share.

It's easy to let your mind just wonder away into stupid land. I stopped myself and asked, Am I suppose to be part of these classes Lord? If so, Why do I feel this way, I know it's a very wrong way to feel, and It needs to change. Lack of love? Lack of not being the center of attention? What needs fixed?

I left knowing something needs to change inside me, I should not be bored with these folks. I understand the problem, now I need the solution. I was not there for the Lord in excellence.

Blessings.

Jesus is Lord whether I acknowledge the truth by words or works. Jesus is Lord irrespective of my opinion of the matter. Jesus is Lord and ALL authority has been given unto him in both Heaven and Earth. This is the perfect will of the Father and that which I proclaim. Jesus is Lord.

Be blessed brother Mike, long time no see. :)

Jesus is Yaweh (YHVH LORD).

Isaiah 44:24 (AV)
24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
  • Thus saith the LORD†††,
  • thy redeemer,
  • he that formed thee from the womb,
  • I am the LORD†††
  • that maketh all things;
  • that stretcheth forth the heavens alone;
  • that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
Colossians 1:16 (AV)
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him;

verse 13 tells us this is Jesus.

††† LORD = YHVH in the Hebrew texts of the Old Testament.

I suppose I'm odd man out.
Yes, Jesus is Lord, yes, Jesus is the Son of man and yes, Jesus is the son of God. But I do not read scripture in the sense that Jesus is YHVH (LORD)

I know many will disagree. I'm ok with that. Not here to argue but rather to say that much more effort could be spent in our lives walking as Jesus walked and living the life Jesus would have us live. That is to say, "love your neighbor as yourself".

Nothing wrong with high theology or believing Jesus is YHVW as long as we're walking the walk, and not simply talking in glass towers

The "I" here in verse 10, is Referenced in verse 1, the Lord...
who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:

Which is YHWH.

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for hisonly son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.
Zechariah 12:10

They will look on Me, is also referenced in Revelation 1:7...

7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

This is Jesus Christ who is the Alpha and Omega.

Paul makes this clear.

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Paul says that those who confess Jesus as YHWH, are saved.

Those on the other hand that refuse to confess Him as Lord, YHWH are disobedient to the Gospel, and do not believe the Gospel.

So yeah, for me, believing and confessing Jesus as Lord has indeed helped me to have a better life, as I am saved.

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13

...whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

This is a direct quote from Joel 2 and directly connects Jesus as YHWH.

Jesus is YHWH.

Maybe you and Jocor could answer me this question:

If the Spirit of Christ is in all His people, at the same time, being omnipresent, then who is He if not YHWH?

He was in the Old Testament prophets, prophesying "thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the holy One, your Savior.... 1 Peter 1:10-11

Giving in to relativism? Say it isn't so. If it's true, it's true for him, for you, for everyone. It is one of the central defining beliefs of Christianity that sets it apart from all others. Either Jesus is God (YHVH) or he is not. If he is not, there is no salvation.

In case you (JLB and JohnD) didn't fully understand Mike's OP, he did not ask if Jesus is your YHWH. He asked if he was your Lord. By "Lord" he meant:

"Lord means that Jesus is the focus center of your attention in all you do, all you choose, and all you involve yourself in." (quote by Brother Mike)
You are derailing another thread.
