We often hear a call for people pray the sinners prayer.

What's your thoughts?

Such a prayer is not in the Bible.
That is why it can be said many different ways.
It's a prayer that comes from your heart to God.

The one I prayed is in the Bible...

"‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14“I tell you, this man went to his house justified" (Luke 18:13-14 NASB)

I almost remember a story about some one being in real deep trouble... they cried out to the Lord. Not knowing Him i guess they had the idea prayer needs to formal in some way... they prayed the one they knew.. Now i lay me down to sleep.. I pray the Lord my soul to keep ... if i should die before i wake i pray the Lord my soul to take...

Paul Newman was pretty

Never mind that is off topic

My thoughts are, when one prays the so called sinners prayer...are they saved instantly?

Is there a scripture about this?

Where did the idea of a requisite prayer come from?

Why do many copy Jesus prayer?. He said 'this is how you should pray', he never said 'repeat this prayer'.

I mean, I guess there's nothing wrong with it but surely people dont need to be that lazy and can pray to The Most High in there own words from there own heart right?

I agree.
Praying in one's own words is shaped around how one feels at the time. We can all learn and recite prayers, however as many have said, a personal prayer is 'personal'; personal to one's current situation whereas a notable prayer may not be relevant in a certain situation.
We are have a personal relationship with God which is unique; why should we all follow the same pattern?
