I am asking that you all pray for some divorcing couples we know and that they would allow the Lord into their lives.

One of the couples we heard about today and we never saw it coming. It doesn't make sense to us. They said they "agreed to be friends and that it is better this way." I know we don't know what is going om behind closed doors with marriages, but it seemed like they were a close couple. Another we heard about last week...someone we know, single again...divorced for the third time. It makes me sad for her child, she has had so many father figures come in and out of her life. There is someone whom we know at church and their parents are going through a divorce. One of them wants the divorce and the other doesn't. Obviously painful.

I pray that they would all look to God, accept Him in their lives, and make the right decisions according to His will.

It is painful to see so many divorces, especially around the holidays.

Except by the grace of God, we too would be divorced. God must be the focal point of any marriage in order to have a chance. Most problems can be waited out as one or more of the parties spiritually matures. Perseverance in marriage is very similar to the perseverance of our faith. It mimics in some respects our relationship with Christ. It is why it is the only earthly relationship deemed essential to be maintained. Not to be taken lightly. Otherwise Holy matrimony becomes unholy and the consequences are something we shouldn't toy with.
