It's hard for some people... They can feel like its prison... The mental impact on a person is huge, yet insidious...
Numerous studies have been done on inmates and the findings are unanimous...
A person mental health can suffer greatly...

They enter a kind anxiety known as "fight or flight". A human instinct, when life is on the line, to either fight the danger or flee from it
Some people don't deal with it too badly... Christ helps so many brothers and sisters through this every day in the worlds prisons.
Others can end up being riddled with mental complications...

In reality but... This doesn't compare. Prison is 100 to 1000 times worse than this depending on on things
I almost think it would be good for everyone to spend 5 nights in jail.

Even 3 nights in the MAP, the assessment jail everyone gets processed through before going to another jail.
From the hardest most extreme criminals to guys with traffic offenses all in the same mosh pit and you don't know who is who
3 nights

I must have this type of prison PTSD I think. I have no one to talk about it with and when i do i find it really hard.
Typing this is killing me cos it just brinks back those memories and brings me to tears. I snapped at my mum the other day when she was talking about people being jailed for being outside. It's not her fault...

But i won't tell the physician, no way. They used me as a test subject once, never again. Their drugs are very high risk with dangerous side effects and their not completely understood. They play trial and error

Deep breaths... Anyway... How can people prevent from being overwhelmed...
It's a tricky question cos we aren't robots.
We have different characters so what is good for one person might actually be bad for another

But for me, in prison this is what i found.

1/ Isolation was killing me.
Some people prefer to be alone but for me it was dangerous. I would just think about my family and get sad, or Satan would be trying to stir up this resentment in me all the time.
So I had to socialize and importantly laugh with people. So it didn't take long for me walking the yard to find like minded people
So keep in ciontact often with family and friends

2/ This should of been first actually.
Pray daily. Let Christ guide you.
I didn't act in prison without first asking myself "what would Jesus do in this moment?"
I don't ask that of myself as often as i should really but in jail it was my mantra

3/ Have a hobby.
This is a simple one. Do what you luv to do. If u can't try something new, something different

4/ Have a routine.
Im guilty of having no routine at all now but i have no doubt that i should
Wake up and go to sleep at the same reasonable times does wonders. Your body runs more like clockwork

5/ Diet and exercise.
Stop eating junk like McDonalds and at least try and healthy food often.
Get outside go for a walk, get some sun rays at least every so often

6/ These are that you could do in prison.
Use the internet, its a wonderful source of knowledge and entertainment.
Movies, memes, documentaries the list is endless

Spend time with your pets. Watch youtube videos on pets, cat videos are popular
But my heart is with these guys... Birds. Charismatic, cheeky and adorable.
I especially love cockatiels, the little guys with the crest, often have rosy cheeks.
I had two of them, different characters, awesome little buddies they were

Anyway i hope u enjoy this video. There are countless of them which i often find myself watching for hours with a grin on my face

Ahh their such cheeky individual characters. Birds

Cheek out these little heart breakers. Their adorable...

The tough love approach from mum was a winning approach in the end...
Always trust mum cos she knows best

When people get isolated they can't take the loneliness and self reflection.
Studies have shown that if the only thing to do was give themselves a painful Electrical shock...they would rather do that than sit in self reflection.

Prison/jail is worse on this...
Because only "bad guys" go to jail. The proof is in your confinement and removal from society. We can license almost any behavior and still say that we are "good guys" until the proof of incarceration is fully realized. Then we must be "worse than others".

The real truth is something different: God don't care who you have been, He cares about who you are.
It's a line from Aliens versus Cowboys...but it was the best line from the movie...I cheered so loudly when I heard it the first time...I still cheer that line. I bought it for that one line. Watch it often too.

People with good mental health can take this time to focus on creative solutions to complicated problems others have... IOW focus on helping others instead of your own misery.
Paul wrote his best letters while sitting in jail. He wrote others but they haven't been published as often as the ones in scriptures.

Michaelangelo did some amazing things while left alone to focus. So did many other scientists.

I want to bake cookies to distribute...
Maybe make some truffles for everyone...

But my fridge just died yesterday...so my kitchen is in a bit of a rough patch right now.

We have cleaned up this apartment a lot lately... connected with friends through electronics...rested my weary bones a lot.

But I can't deliver cookies and candies...not a good idea right now.

Can't do a lot of things.

But I can plan and research foods to make...
I can study the codebook for Electrical work...and self test to ensure my knowledge...so I can pass tests and possibly get a good job later...in management. High salary and all that. Help along goals for the future. (Retirement)

I can do a lot of things.

My wife wants me to make a new dining room table...one that is work bench height. I'm hesitant because we will need chairs. (And we don't have any that would work at that height)
I'll need it by Thanksgiving for sure...I'll need the counter space...no doubt. Just going to put it off for a bit yet.

Everyone says I hope things go back to normal soon. I say, I hope they do not as normal wasn't working before this pandemic. I hope we take from this the value of spending quality time with family, a time of rest and being refreshed from a fast paced life. A time of new reflections on the value of life and the more important things within it. And most of all that during this time the Gospel will continue to be preacher and to those who have a slower paced life will finally hear the words of God and return back to Him. 2 Chronicles 7:14.

I didn't get most of this post but I didn't know whether to cry or laugh for those poor ducklings so I wound up laughing but feeling bad for doing it for those cuties. :lol

Wow, I know you didn't mean it like this but that's sort of like a slap in the face for somebody who is currently engaged to an inmate. :sad

There's a lot more to my post than this. I was talking about what people who go to jail must feel like. About the things running through their heads.

And then I talked about what God thinks about these people.

True, I'm sorry,.. good point. The truth is those people probably feel worse than we do and maybe that's what you were getting at.

It's not like prison, it's more like home detention and a mental prison. The only thing im missing is a ankle braclet tracker.

Anyhow, I might be allowed to go fishing land based only from Wednesday and all I do is landbased anyhow, who knows just a little bit of freedom would be nice. I mean I can go for a walk locally to get excersise, that's about all the freedom I have at the moment. Not allowed to visit family or friends or do anything because someone I don't even know said so and knows what's best for me.

Alright, for everybody who's currently in lockdown and wants some kind of entertainment to occupy yourselves this is for you. However,.. I must also warn you that it's incredibly disturbing.

Disturbingly cute that is,.. and here's another warning,.. Christ the King and a few of the other guys on here,.. you might need to go on punching a wall to regain your manliness. :tongue

Okay, I don't think that I can post a video like this and not tag wondering and Tessa for this. :lol Oh and this is for JohnDB and Edward who think that cats can't show compassion. Warning, this will break your heart. :crying (You have to turn on closed captions though)

Oh come on,.. I can't be the only one in tears from that second kitten I posted. Even if John and Jason aren't really cat lovers,.. you guys aren't heartless either. :crying

Kittens are cute but cats aren't really my thang...
Im a bird man...??????

Because only "bad guys" go to jail.

This is what does my head in.
If i had committed a crime i have no doubt that I would of have been in a state of acceptance. We all know that prison is for criminals

But what about if you didn't commit a criminal offence and find yourself in prison.

Ahh anyway...

Iv gotta stop bringing this up i think. Im think people just don't get it and sometimes make comments from ignorance that make my blood boil. (not this thread)
It's something that I can only speak to former inmates about

I know, but it's like I've told Christ_empowered many times before. The thoughts and opinions of ignorant people will only bother you if you let them.

True.
Like the other day when i was at my mums place. On TV they had shown how a man was sent to prison for 30 days for breaking lock down rules. I was just already fuming inside

Then my mum said "it serves him right for breaking the rules". I lost my temper and went on a rant before realizing I had lost my cool and needed to leave.

If i think about it, I had no empathy for inmates b4 either
I assumed they were all evil and deserved to be in there

I'll just stop mentioning it anyway

Alright, but I do believe that she was talking about that particular individual,.. not inmates in general.
