Bible Study Should I tithe or pay my bills first? Do we rob God when we don't tithe?

Have you committed yourself to pay a tithe?
We are not judged by our obedience to the law.
If you cannot pay what you have committed yourself to pay? Tell God in prayer. He will understand.
Nothing to do with the tithe.

When Abraham met Melchisedec, King of Salem, on the road after the victory he had experienced over five kings, he gave Melchisedec tithes of all he had. Have you ever wondered why he did so? The answer is found in what Melchisedec brought to the meeting (Genesis 14:18-20). He brought the bread and the wine, which pointed ahead to the coming Christ who would give His body and blood for the sins of humanity as the Lamb of God. Abraham gave tithes of all he had because he recognized the minister of Righteousness, the minister who represented and pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ. The same happens today when God’s people recognize and have their faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Liberality in their giving is not a problem, but rather a desire and joy!

Pay your rent. Make sure you have enough food. Take care of your true responsibilities because God does not need you homeless or hungry. After you have your true necessities covered, give all the rest to God to honor Jesus and His love for you. Don't buy Starbucks or movies or video games or go out to eat alot ( or get delivery). Give everything to God until you have gotten to the full 10%. God does rebuke the devourer even if you are short of 10%, but God is looking at your heart. So always be as close to 10% as possible, because you do have a ferocious enemy who is evil who wants to rob you of your blessings. I hope this helps. My life experience is where these thoughts are coming from. God has protected me even when I had nothing to give, but INCREASE comes from being faithful to God with our finances and being good stewards of our money for the Kingdom of Heaven.

I agree with Compassion544 ....
but if you feel as your above post describes...
then I'd say that you better follow your God-inspired conscience.
As for me...I'd pay my bills first since I have a responsibility to my family,
which was given to me by God, to care for and cherish.

I don't believe Job is a real story.
I'm not sure God tests us....we'd have to go into this a bit more.
God doesn't need my money....so I don't feel I'm robbing Him.
If He wanted to...He could wipe out hunger tomorrow, in an instant.
I feel I'm robbing my fellow man by not helping more.
I thank God for persons like Gates,that give their money away to charity.
And many others....even Jon Bon Jovi !!

Context ,what is your tithe for?
The priest?
Most churches don't have pantries,
But I have seen this,lady on social security disabilities collecting food stamps ,tithing .
Defeats the purpose .I'm for giving .my pastor would refuse to take money from that person .

My faith is super strong.
I don't know what Job has to do with my belief and trust in God.
It's the oldest book in the O.T.
Do you think there was some person around that was privy to a conversation
between God and satan?

Doubt in the bible = unbelief!
God demands to be “FIRST” in every area of your life (Matthew 6:33). He does not want your leftovers. As He said, “I Am a great King, give those leftovers to your Governor.” Mal. 1:8
Jesus tells us we must render to Caesar what belongs to him, and God what is His (Matthew 22:21). Jesus says, "If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches (Luke 16:11 NKJV)?
Christians are tested with the least in the Kingdom of God which is money.
Considering what Jesus has said here (Luke 16:9-13 NKJV), I think it would be difficult to overstate the significance of this down to earth, practical teaching, that applies to everyone. If a person cannot be trusted with money, and in any capacity, Jesus plainly says, he cannot be trusted with Salvation, i.e., "true riches." In view of the seriousness of what is being said, we would do well to heed carefully.
In these passages (Luke 16:9-13), Jesus is saying that irrespective of how loudly and how often we profess our Godliness, if it does not show up in our practical, every day living, and especially in the matters of money, and our responsibility toward others, our profession is vain. This statement is plain and clear, if we are unfaithful in these things. "Who will commit to our trust the true riches?"
