    I have researched hell extensively. There is more than one word that is translated as "Hell".
    One of these words is "Gehenna". Jesus said in Matthew 10:28 "Fear the one who is able to destroy both body and soul in Gehenna."
    This makes it clear to me that those who are sent to Gehenna will be destroyed there.

    Here is the dictionary definition for hell:
    the place where the devil lives and where evil people go after they die according to some religions.
