Just thought I'd share one of my favorite hymns! Today wasn't a great day but I can still sing praise to my Savior!
If you close your eyes and listen real hard you might even be able to hear me:wave2

1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

2
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

You got another one stuck in my head. Last time it was "This World Is Not My Home", and I have been stuck singing it because the kids love it lol. You seem to know a lot of hymns I grew up with.

I love a lot of these hymns!
LOL! Glad your kids like it! Yeah, I grew up Baptist and still go to a Baptist church where we sing hymns out of a hymnal and I love it!

*sigh* I'm getting old. When did this happen? Lol. I'm no good at it.

To me, the stuff you young ladies call hymns is CCM: Christian contemporary music. To me, "hymns" are out of the hymnal 1940, written in 4-part harmony, sung in a congregation where by the age of 1 every baby has been held by several people singing each of the 4 parts, in the congregation.

Meaning the congregation can actually sing all 4 parts together, not just the choir. The choir merely leads the congregation in the singing.

One of the best sources of accurate theology is hymns. For instance:

O sacred head sore wounded, defiled and put to scorn
O kingly head surrounded with mocking crown of thorn
What sorrow mars thy grandeur? Can death thy bloom deflower?
O countenance who's splendor the hosts of heaven adore!

The beauty, long desired hath vanished from our sight
thy power is all expired, and quenched the light of light
Ah me! For whom thou diest, hide not so far thy grace
show me, o love most highest, the brightness of thy face

In thy most bitter passion my heart to share doth cry
with thee for my salvation upon the cross to die.
Ah, keep my heart thus moved to stand the cross beneath, to mourn thee, well-beloved, yet thank thee for thy death.

My days are few, oh fail not, with thine
immortal power
to hold me that I quail not in death's most fearful hour
that I may fight befriended, and see in my last strife
to me thine arms extended upon the cross of life

That's the one I was looking for (#75) but before I found it I came across #60 & 71, which might be better than this one without the music.

The church I go to certainly tries to sing all the parts to varying degrees of success .. this song might be newer than some of the others but it's in an old hymnal I have a copy of so I consider it a hymn.

Is it written out with the music, in harmony?

I'm not sure whether or not you know this person but Kate Higgins (the English voice of Sakura from Naruto) sings this song on one of her C.D's that I own. :)
