I don't have a trunk, I drive a pickup, but I do keep a set of jumper cables, tow strap, couple wool blankets, insulated gloves, and a stocking cap in case I break down during the winter.

Yeah , you need to be ready for the weather conditions and climate you face if stranded .
Hopeful 2 , you keep some water for emergencies in your van ? Arizona is dry I hear :no1here .

Actually, I don't.
But I also don't go out of range of a short walk to B-King or Mickey D's.
In my younger days, when I was out surveying the desert, I would always have lots of water with me.
The key is planning ahead.
I always needed something to drink, when the beer ran out. :hysterical

I think I will start to carry a couple of water bottles though...thanks !

You never know when you may be the one rescuing someone else stranded .
My wife and I were on the interstate going toward Nashville and I saw an older gentleman standing behind a pickup truck stopped on the side of the interstate and looked like he was in trouble . So we stopped to help .
There was enough room to get out of the lane and be out of the traffic's way by a few feet . The man with the truck had a flat tire and found out his spare was almost flat too . I had my 12 volt Air compressor and was able to air up his spare so he could be on his way .
He was still quit a few miles from his destination and I advised him to get off the interstate and find new tires , all of his were dry rotted but he had thought they would hold up to make his long trip in the summer time anyway . Oh , was he wrong .

Hi guys,

My trunk holds a battery for the starter and I honestly don't know if I have a spare. The tires are run flats and I've always been able to get help without having to sit on the side of the road jacking up the car. But I've blown 3 of them. I think the sidewalls are too stiff to take much bumping. The last one I was coming from Texas across I-10 in Louisiana and hit a pot hole. I, of course was driving too close and too fast to jerk the steering wheel when I saw it appear out from under the car ahead of me. I try not to jerk the wheel and figured the tire would take the hit but we'd feel a good jolt. Well no, that's not what happened. Thunk! Blap, blap, blap, blap, blap..blap......blap as I pulled off to the side. However, I must give God all the credit for how it was resolved. Praise Him always!!!

Other than that I have a pair of jumper cables and some empty bags for grocery shopping at Aldi's. Probably have a tool or two rolling around in there. I need to clean it up and run the vac.

Water bottles for me during winter would maybe give me a chunk of ice to suck on.

I forgot to mention that I also keep an axe under the back seat of my truck. It actually came in handy one time. Three years ago, mid-November, 2021, I went up to my brother-in-law's hunting shack for deer hunting. His shack is located about 30 miles south of the Canadian border and off the main road about six miles on forest service roads. Essentially, these are nothing more than logging trails. Cell phone service is extremely sketchy up there too.

I arrived on Wednesday and my brother-in-law and nephew were scheduled to arrive on Thursday afternoon. Thursday morning I was out sitting on my hunting stand and it began to snow, a very wet and heavy kind of snow, and within a couple hours I was getting wet so I figured I'd better hike back to the shack and dry my clothes.

Friday morning when we got up to go hunting, we found a bunch of heavy, wet snow had fallen overnight. It caused trees to bend or fall across the trail we came in on making them impassible. I asked my brother-in-law if he had a chainsaw up there and he said no and no wood cutting saw. The only thing we found was my axe in my truck. We spent the next few hours chopping a path on three miles of the trail back to a Y. The loggers had already gone in that far so we knew the road was open the rest of the way. On our way back to the shack we found that more trees had fallen so we had to cut our way back in. Needless to say, we got very little time for hunting that day.

The next morning, when we started out to go hunting, we found more trees had fallen so we decided it would be best to just pack up and get out of there.

Here are a couple photos from that Friday's workout.

So what were you thinking when you initially put the axe under the back seat of the truck ?
So many times I think God orders our steps but we don't understand till later .

My brother-in-law gave the axe to me as a Christmas gift. He works in forestry. I really didn't have a regular use for it so I put it in my truck figuring if I ever needed it, it would be when we are ATV riding and fixing up deer stands and that would keep it in a handy location. I guess it paid off.

Actually, will be heading up to that shack next Wednesday through Monday for our annual fall M.A.N. Camp. Hoping to get a few grouse for dinner.

Carry a machete ,never know what needs to be cleared and also who to fend off ,lol

Lol. In my country if you have one of them in your vehicle and got pulled over and searched it would automatically get confiscated unless you have a valid reason to have one in the vehicle like its a item you use for your job.

I have carried a big knife but my fishing rods are in the vehicle so it's my fishing knife, a valid reason to have it if ever questioned.

The line between a item and a weapon. Some gang members gets pulled over and there is a baseball bat and a knife in the vehicle that's a bit suspicious.
Not in Florida .my work truck had them.

I find it amazing how the system works. If i go through customs i get searched and I have a tube of tooth paste and antiperspirant deodorant for my personal hygiene, thats seen as a threat to security being in my possession travelling so it's confiscated, my tube of toothpaste and deodorant got conficated last time. If I had a fishing knife in the car would get questioned why I have a knife on me and have would to give a valid reason why or would get conficated, a cop sitting on the side of the road just waiting for someone to break the rules.

It's like your all good not in trouble becauase you done nothing wrong but everyone is classed as a potential criminal who cannot be trusted. Yet those who make the rules expect everyone to trust them and not as a potential criminal back.

TSA is another thread and they limit the sizes .I work for an airport.

Look up Melbourne,fl gun man shot at airport I was there that day and he tried to enter the gate by me and was challenged by the electricians

Once upon a time I done a big mission to visit my family a long drive I decided to leave really early hours of the morning like 2am, and I pulled over at a beach hours later as the sun was just coming up over the horizon, it was a beautiful morning, im loving life im going to visit my family and have a BBQ and catch up with everyone, im feeling good and just relaxing soaking up how great life is.

Suddenly I get this knock on the window and it's a cop and as he's talking me says he can smell weed so has a right to search the car and he found a smidge of weed and next thing I know im arrested and in jail with a court summons, all because there was a smidge of weed in the car like im some sort of bad criminal minding my own business in peace.
