    Good works........James

That's all you really had to say. I guess us non-believers are so lost in our iniquity we are incapable of worthwhile contribution.

Really? I think you've left out the concept that is talked about the most. Read it again, the vast majority of the content of the story is Jesus explaining who the sheep are, who the goats are and what their future entails. If it was merely meant to show Jesus' authority, he didn't even have...

The term is not found but there are passages that support and refute the concept. Most passages imply we have free-will, for instance Joshua stating "...choose this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house, we will serve The Lord." Sort of implies choice is involved. There are other...

I'm not sure that is in fact official church doctrine ("God will not force himself on us") but the funny thing is that Calvinists believe that God will in fact force himself on us. They believe we are totally depraved and that the only way that we will choose Truth/God/Jesus is if God first...

What exactly does Matthew 25:31 teach then?

You mean you don't want to throw her in a pit of burning sulfur? Joking of course. I imagine that's how God feels (hurt by our screw-ups) but I think He will heal the hurt, not create more hurt and suffering via eternal damnation. We humans are not broken beyond repair.

bluegirl, I think your going back to using logic again if your going to differenciate Christianity with "love". I also must challenge you on weather or not love is really at the center. I'm assuming that your thinking the love described in John 3:16. In Christian doctrine, we are depraved...

    Good works........James

Sounds like you've been reading some non-canonical works. But where did you come up with the "anti-Christ" part? James was the leader of the church of Jerusalem and direct successor after Jesus. Even Paul sought James approval and authority. Did James teach "good works", he probably did...

Did those who lived before Christ have any hope for salvation?

The Jews had their own salvation program according to the Hebrew Bible in following the Mosaic Law. This is even eluded to in the NT, I believe it is stated that the parents of John the Baptist were righteous and blameless in the eyes of the Lord following His decrees..... So, it would seem to...

    The Five Points of Calvinism

I find it odd so many Christians believe in the "5 Points". Did Jesus teach even a single one of these points?

A Person is Justified by Works and not by Faith Alone

(Post deleted. A&T guidelines state in part: "Subsequent opposing responses should include references to supportive scripture relevant to the thread and offer explanation for the contrary understanding." You can not simply post any random scripture to comply with this. Obadiah.)

Cturtle, What I think is that God isn't really giving us a choice to accept him or not if the penalty of the wrong choice is eternal torture. Furthermore, what is to be said for those who seek truth with an open heart and mind and due to no fault of their own, chose the "wrong" wrong religion...

That's a problem. If Christianity is the one true religion and if the penalty for getting this wrong is eternal damnation, I think it's God's responsibility to somehow reassure people when they do make the decision to ask Christ into their heart.

Bluegirl, no, I don't have a connection with Mormonism. Just used them as one example of a religion in which the believers rely primarily faith and therefore showing that faith isn't reliable.

But aren't you using logic to discredit Hinduism? Perhaps, but I've done that and my heart and mind is open to revelation from the Creator.

    Total Depravity

A simple question, did Jesus teach TULIP? If Jesus didn't teach it and Paul may have, I think the burden of proof is on the Calvinists.

I have to admit that much of what you wrote is over my head but the bit I do understand makes sense in a way. I just don't see how this approach leads to Christianity. Faith may also lead to Hinduism, in fact, for millions, it has.
