Who are the people sitting next to Jesus?

And they obviously wanted it (to sit on His right and His left in heaven). They asked after all. But we don't always get everything we want either. Jesus didn't say they would get what they asked for nor did He say they would not get what they asked for. All He said was that it was not for Him...

Serious and Honest Question, Please answer as such

Not just responding to you but also to the OP as well. If Jesus doesn't exist then God doesn't exist and therefore, there would be no such thing as morality nor life on earth.

Who are the people sitting next to Jesus?

He didn't say one way or the other. So, is it possible we might be inferring our own ideas rather than just accepting the answer given? Wanting it is of no consequence for in the end, it is given to whom the Father chooses. "What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly...

Who are the people sitting next to Jesus?

As a matter of semantics, Jesus didn't deny John and James. He only said it was not for Him to say who it would be but the Father will make that determination. Aside from that, Scripture doesn't tell us and in fact, not even Jesus knew then. I guess, I'm wondering why it matters to us.

    do you remember?

I won't engage in a political debate so if you're planning to turn this into one, you won't see me involved. They all do it for the same reasons so it's not something unique to the bill you mentioned.

Like you, I do not like hypotheticals. For one thing, it can lead to doubt and I want to move away from my doubts, especially when it comes to my faith.

    do you remember?

I think this is one tactic that is used to get bills passed. The current healthcare bill is about 1,500 pages. Imagine reading 1,500 pages of legal jargon and remembering what you've read. When was the last time you read the legal agreement when installing an app on your phone or when creating...

some of the silly things that people believe and promote

You touched on another reason for renting being a potential better option for some. Down-payment. Any good lender is going to demand that the borrower has skin in the game so a down-payment is going to be most likely needed and that can be difficult. I don't know what is usually required these...

some of the silly things that people believe and promote

The valuation is only someone's opinion, albeit based on local trends, and they are not written in stone. Those valuations can change in a heartbeat just like the value of my home did when when within four years the value of my home was about $10K less than what I still owed on the mortgage. I...

some of the silly things that people believe and promote

This is true in all things. Home ownership is no different. A home seller can price the home to whatever they want. The real question is whether or not they can find someone willing to pay their asking price, which if priced high means it will likely take a lot longer to sell it and that can be...

some of the silly things that people believe and promote

What you describe is true, of course. Rental property is a business and therefore it is not offered for lease without figuring in a certain amount of income or profit from the property. In order to gain an income/profit from the property, one must cover all the expenses and that includes...

How to beware of confirmation bias when discussing theology.

I have a question. If someone disagreed with some of the things you highlighted, would that mean they are guilty of confirmation bias, because they don't agree with your assertion of the topic? Theology is by definition the study of the nature of God and our religious beliefs. So, when we do...

    Ten Commandments!

I'm wondering why you wish to make this a point of contention. Does it matter how they are numbered or that we have given them numbers for identification? What really matters is what God's Word says and that we understand it, right? In reality there are only two commandments and those two have...

    Is the NIV dishonest?

Tradition isn't any more infallible either for it requires that we also must test that which we hear against Scripture to validate it and this holds true also for the Catholic church and the Pope. I'm not trying to single out the Catholic church for we know there are many divisions in the...

    making memories or forming character?

I think I am a little guilty of not being very approachable with my own children, especially our daughters, but that is not always the case because it seems there are some things where they feel just fine about approaching me. Beer: Evil Crutch, Or Godsend?

I remember in early 2020 when the pandemic got a foot-hold. Rather than panic, I just remembered to whom I trust. In fact, I recall posting on my FB page that there is nothing to fear for God has everything under control. It was difficult to watch as peoples' fears were brought to the forefront.
