    Atonement

It's funny how there seems to be no sacrifice for wilingly sinning, yet God is patient, often not punishening people for their sins at all. there are probbaly all sorts of things wrong with that statment:chin- I'm just thinking out loud here.

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

You see I'm inclined to this as well. Problem is that we don't have any exmaples in the Bible of this. It's like the "once saved always saved". Sure, you could argue over the teaching scriptures, but there are no stories about it, telling us what happened. But if we go down the path of...

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

Since I'm no systematic theologian, and have thought this throgh mostly on a more "seeker sensitive" and "leymen's" level, I'll concede for now. if anything comes to my mind, I'll reply back.

    Atonement

I think it's all the "life for life". Blood is an idiom, back in the day, for life. God commands life for life. it wasn't necessarily Jesus' blood, but His life- and he being God, it was God's life. Uh-oh, I think this is too much philosophical thinking, and not enough "Bible only". I'm...

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

Yes, and I'm wondering why God would create a world were sometimes that "expression of saving faith" cannot be accomplished between the moment of belief, and death of our body.

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

So if a situation is not in the Bible, we must refer back to. . . what?

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

Good point I agree! Too bad, if baptism is required no-matter-what, that God had to go and create a universe in which He knew there'd be circumstances where ones who genuinely loved Him would not be able to be baptized.

Many Scriptural proofs of man’s inherited sin nature

I don't think we're so much as arguing against "inevitable sin", sin's totality one committed, or against sin's results (total separation from God). We're arguing that to say we're "born in sin" is the same as saying that God sends us to, lets us go to, hell- without our having any control over...

Many Scriptural proofs of man’s inherited sin nature

So an all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful God would have us ceoncieved in a state were, if we were stillborn, we'd be separated from Him eternally? Whatever those verses mean, I think they can't mean this!

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

I guess we could define faith as "belief that manifests itself in actions when given the chance". This, to me, seems to make sense of most uses of the scenarios in the Bible, like the Prodigal, the Rich young Ruler, all those baptism episodes in Acts, Paul's point in Galatians about faith...

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

This is why we (me, at least, and most people I know of when I explain it to them) say faith alone saves.

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

I just thought about something. belief and baptism are two different things. not just different like apples and oranges, or apples and rocks, or cats and oranges. But different like apples and thoughts, or love and oranges. One is material and requires the senses and such, one is...

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

One can be saved by faith alone. Or at least, faith without a baptism which requires one to do a specific ritual at a specific time and place with the correct beliefs and the correctly ordained clergy, aka water baptism. "Baptism of desire" is not water baptism, right?

Singing Ave Maria in church/home robs God's Glory?

Then how would one ask, with all seriousness, sincerity, love, and desire to learn and grow loser to God and each other, about stuff like veneration of saints, Mary, icons, relics, etc.? Without violating any forum rules? Again, I'm being serious, not smart aleck- how would one go about this?

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

I respond with "only God knows, since only God knows his heart and his life and his counterfactuals and etc. etc." It seems you'd respond with "We know he's not saved". I thought only God knows the heart.

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

I was saying that baptism definitely fits the criterion I laid out above. Does scripture say these exact words? No- but the obvious retort of "the bible doesn't have a systematic treatise on the trinity, or even the word trinity" is how I must respond. I agree, it seems Paul is talking about...

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

Totally agree with your point here I agree with your point here about free passes and all kinds of circumstances. I guess where we disagree (and are gonna have to "agree to disagree") is that were you see this as the stopping point, I still try and grapple this. In fact, since I entered into...

Do you have to be baptized to achieve salvation?

A "work" is usually seen, by the average person, as 1)something physical, 2)something which takes specific knowledge of said physical act, 3)something which if not performed with the said knowledge one is not saved, no matter the circumstance, and 4)something which takes effort on our part...

Many Scriptural proofs of man’s inherited sin nature

I admit I have not read the rest of your post (it's late, I need to get to bed), so forgive me if you answered this already: Are you then saying that someone who has never committed sin(2) has not the effects that original sin supposedly has (ie, we are condemned by virtue of God creating our...
