Bible Study ‘Word made flesh’ John 1:14

‘Word made flesh’ John 1:14

One of the most philosophical portions of the bible is the first few verses of the gospel of John. It begins with a Hymn to the Word which identifies Jesus as the Logos and the Logos as divine. 'In the beginning was the Word (logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God' (John1:1). In Greek, the word logos mean 'word', 'saying', 'speech' etc. The existence of God (Theos) as a person and the logos (‘word’ has energy) or the action. The relationship between the two is inseparable. The ‘Word was with God’ and the ‘Word was God’. The word was truly made flesh in Jesus Christ. He is the perfect embodiment of God in human. Jesus knew himself that He is the anointed (Christ). We can see Jesus openly and plainly declaring to the Samaritan woman "I, the one speaking to you--I am he (messiah)" (John 4:26). The self realization of Godliness within Himself. Jesus Himself reiterates that ‘Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? (John 14:10). The ultimate truth of God’s ability to reside in human flesh is revealed in Christ.

This is the most profound and clear understanding of Godliness. C S Lewis said “The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.” Jesus Christ enabled all of us to be the sons of God. And we should appreciate that son of God is the brotherhood and togetherness of Jesus Christ. Many times Jesus even humbled to call himself as ‘Son of man’ (Matthew 25:31). God was pleased with Jesus Christ and removed the barrier of heavens and the earth (Ephesians 2:14) and brought the divine understandings of God within men. Jesus Christ presaged “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you” (John 14:20). The hidden mystery of God is the understanding of God living in us (Colossians 1:27). The unity of our minds with God. “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one” (John 17:22). The oneness of our souls with God through the redemption of Christ. “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one” (John 17:23). The truth revealed by Jesus Christ is the understanding the possibility of God residing within us. That itself is the ultimate truth which sets us free. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). But the prerequisite for that is the discipleship of Jesus Christ, which comes only through obeying His commands and continue in His words (John 8:31). And His commandment is ‘Love one another’ (John 15:12).

Living a life together with Christ and for Christ, and walking in the light of the Lord should be the hope of all disciples who follow Christ. We might have to torn down the selfishness of our hearts and take the cross (burden) what God is setting in front of us. All the barriers and bondages have to be then broken and we should start to see this world through the eye of Jesus Christ and God. Serving the needy, curing the people, offering the fellowship with the people who are craving for a fellowship, praying for all those who are suffering. That is the will of God to establish His holy kingdom of love in this world of misery and evil. We are the beacon of Christ, which He lit on the cross of Calvary. Let the Christ live in us and through us. Let the word (Christ) be born and become flesh in us.

Hi there Sijo my very good friend. I'm always pleased to see your threads. They are always good, and I am always rewarded with Truth from the Word of God. Today's was especially rewarding because for forty years now, my hunger for the Logos is more today than ever. My favorite reading is Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Every few months, I repeat the Gospels and always learn new facts about our Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you for continuing to feed us from your gift of wisdom, research, and presentation. Love you! :hug
