Suppose a man believes that 1+1=3, with all conviction.
He goes to a public place and begins to teach this to people-- who of course find him foolish to say the least.
One young man sets out to correct his mistake by showing him two pennies in his hand.
The young man ask "How many pennies do I have?"
The man replies "why 3 of course"
The young man slightly frustrated says "Okay If i take away 1 penny how many do I have left?"
Thinking he has this all figured out he looks on to the man with a smug look on his face.
The man affirms him by replying "there is 1 there of course"
the kid begins to walk away as the man says "and there is three all together"
the kid gets frustrated and yells at the man
the man yells back and a fight ensues
the kid provides as much proof as possible
but the non believer in math doesn't agree-- and will not no matter what
----------------
this reminds me of how debates on forums go....
sometimes people come to express their views but care very little of other peoples views
------
bottom line
if you know for certain your beliefs are true, then you should respect the facts that someone doesn't know as much as you
when evangelizing we should treat the other party as ignorant-- even if they come to you proclaiming their beliefs.
