In 1 Corinthians 5:11, it says:

11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

11 But [a]actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called (A)brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or (B)an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.

Add in all of the Rev. 17:1-5 ones, who can keep UNITED company with these as the 'brethern', huh??? (Matt. 6:24)

We are to be in the world but not to be part (united) of the world. In other words of 'mine', these are the ones that Christ wants to win over to Him by using us, and not the other way around. (2 Cor. 6:14-18)

In regards to fellowship in the church. If the brother or sister do not repent, then they are to be excommunicated so that they may repent. Once they do repent, they are allowed back in to have fellowship.

In regards to personal relationships outside the church: we have to keep in mind these sobering truths when we are being witesses of the Son to the world around us:

1 Corinthians 15:33Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 34Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Trust Jesus to be your Good Shepherd as to when it is inappropriate to be around sinners or believers that are living in sin.

1 Peter 4:1Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 3For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

Sometimes you have no control over the matter when it involves family: but we have this promise from Jesus that He will show us the way we ought to go.

1 Corinthians 10:12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

John 17:14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Matthew 10:32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Paul had told the originally that they should not keep company with sinners

9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

But they mistook his meaninging, they were not asscoiating themselves with the lost.....so he clarified it here, by saying anyone who says they are Christian and engage in those sins

11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

The lost need us, the wolves in sheep clothing, however should be eschewed

I agree but even with sinning brothers, we are to lean on Jesus Christ for guidance, trusting Him to direct our footsteps away from such situations that may be to our detriment, but reach out in Christ's love, He shall enable us to do so.

Galatians 6:1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ

Jude 1:22And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. 24Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

So here is a question.....and it is genuine, I have no set answer - if anyone is -pursuing the sins listed....are they truly a brother?

Christ answers your question! Rev. 18:4 :study

Since you asked the question as "anyone", the answer is they 'could' be a brother.

Some who commit grave sins are lost sheep in need of Jesus the Good Shepard. Others who commit grave sins are the sheep in wolves clothing. Discernment is important in distinguishing the two. After all, we are all sinners and have fallen short of the kingdom by our transgressions.

(Matt 12:50) "For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."

If I am a brother to Christ and someone who does the will of the Father is also a brother to Christ, then then person is my brother through Christ.
