1 John 1:5-10

Walking in the Light
5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

5 God made light and everything that is good is compared to light which refers to God. When Jesus told us to shine our light He is telling us to live a life that shows them Jesus.
6 If we live in the light people will know us by the way we live. This is not to say we will be faultless but we will have a change of heart that others will see. You also can see things better with light and likewise we will see errors of our way with the light in our life as believers.
7-8 We will be shone in the light for what we are. Believers have Jesus' blood covering their sins so under the light they are perfect but for those with unbelief their sins are not covered by the Blood and are made clear. We are all sinner it is that the blood can cover them all.
9 We to confess to Christ our sins that way they can be forgiven by being put under the Blood.
10 No true believer can teach they are sin less. Jesus is the only sin less One who every lived.
