1 John 2:7-11
English Standard Version (ESV)
The New Commandment
7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8 At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because[a] the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him[b] there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

7 It was important and still is to know teachers are speaking the Truth which is the Word.
8 There should be a seen difference in our life it should be like we were in darkness and now we are in light. Light is the opposite of darkness so we should be very different than before as if we were opposite of what we were.
9 To be in the light is to show love not only to brothers and sisters in Christ but also to those who are not in the light.
10 If we continue to show love to our brothers and sisters in Christ we will work out our differences for the work of the Spirit to be done.
11 We can not continue showing dislike for a brother if we are in the light the Spirit will convict us untill we no longer have strife with our brother our sister that way it will not turn into hate for them. We may disagree with them still and they may show hate toward us and give us strife at that point we need to let Christ handle them if they are His He will change their heart and if they are not His we do not need to give them more of a reason to hate us by continueing to remind them of our problems.
