1 John 4:1-6
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Testing the Spirits
4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

These are my thoughts please share yours.
1 Not all teaching is of God. We should question man's teaching and use the word to see if what they say is true. Their is false teachers in the world who often want to make themselves look good before man.
2 Their is teaching that Jesus was spirit only this is what the gnostics believe and here John may have been trying to keep the people away from this false doctrine. False teachers always limit Jesus.
3 False teachers say Jesus is not God or lower God to make Jesus God they compromise the truth for their own understand and false teaching is a result. not believing the Word is a stand against Christ.
4 True believers find truth in the bible and their faith comes from God to them. With God on our side no one can stop us from doing God's will.
5 False teachers are of the world not of God and people of the world will listen to them and maybe even agree with them as well.
6 Believers will listen and follow after the truth but the world will not they may seem to at times but they may have the head knowledge but not have accepted it in their hearts.
