I'm not sure if this should be here or in testimonies so I'll let the mods decide.

Yesterday marked 100 days of TOTAL abstinence from alcohol for me! Not even fruit cake made with sherry or my favourite, fish and chips in beer batter! This has been a personal demon for me which kept raising it's ugly head over the years.
I can tell you now God in His Grace has slaughtered that demon for me and left it's battered and bloody corpse on the floor!
I haven't even considered having a drink since the end of week one.
I don't want it , don't need it! Not now , Not ever! No way, No How! Uh,uh.:shame

My friends and family have said "gee Paul that took some will power I bet"
Yes it did GOD"S will NOT mine! He did it not me. The only part my will played in it was my will to please Him.
I had tried to totally quit before but always gone back to "just one won't hurt" oh ok two's ok........before I knew it the count increased and I'm back to square one:oops
All I can add is GOD IS ALL POWERFUL and ALL CONQUERING!
Praise Him
Thank you so much my Blessed Lord. Amen:nod

This is great! You know, consistent prayer and Bible reading can fill any void which alcohol might once have filled.

Farouk, do that. I also workout every day and home life, chores and work takes care of the rest of my time.

Often quitting altogether works better, for someone who had struggled in the past, than trying to use less alcolhol than previously.

Wonderful Paul Good for you! And thank you Jesus!!!

Thank you Reba, and Yes praise Jesus, He did it not me.

I praise the Lord with you Paul; He continues working in us until we are with Him. Thanks for the update and God bless you in Jesus' name. :thumbsup

Paul: did your wife quit, too, maybe? (or maybe she never drank anyway).

Often it helps if both husband and wife quit.

Blessings.

Thank you Eugene, He's definitely working in me (I think I may have caused Him to do some overtime in my case...)

Farouk, Thayanee hardly ever drinks and when she does it's usually only 1 glass of beer or wine at a restaurant with dinner.

Oh okay so her drinking occasionally isn't likely to affect your abstinence plan, then.

Blessings.
