Bible Study 1Cor 11:1 Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ

1Co 11:1 Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ. (ASV)

Today, there are many houses built in vain. What am I talking about? The Bible teaches us that if we build anything without God we will fail. (Psalms 127:1) So many, without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit have problems finding a, practical Life application for this. Paul, in the title verse, makes it quite clear to those of us that have repented, accepted Jesus for our Saviour an quench not the Holy Spirit. We do not lead god into our ministries, no, it is exactly as Henry Blackaby teaches. We must learn to hear God's call. (Bill Taylor's intepretation of Mr. Blackaby's teaching.)

I took this course, early, in my Christian Walk and it has been a perpetual blessing to me, since. Henry teaches that we must learn to stand still, listen and watch to see where God is working so that we can serve God. Since that course, every time a task led by God comes to an end, a door closes, another door opens resulting in my having never been bored but rather, having been, always, bust for the LORD, my Master.

Also, early in my walk I began to sign my name to the articles with Bond Servant, followed by Bill Taylor and having done so, I've offended quite a few folks. Some have even informed me that they were children of God and as such, God owes them! Well, God owes no one anything. Am I also a Chil of God? Absolutely! But there was a Spiritual Transaction that took place on that cross when Jesus gave up the Spirit and was buried, He paid the price of ownership for this and for every sinner smart enough to accept the free gift of Salvation. The moment I accepted that gift I began to follow Jesus through the leading of the Holy Spirit and that means I have chosen to have the Spiritual piercing of my ear, making me the Bond Servant of Jesus and that means I am not the but a Child of God.

My prayers go with and for all that read this article.

a few verses that IMO go along with your post....

1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

1Co 7:22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.
1Co 7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

1Co 11:1 Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ. (ASV)

I like your post very much Bond Servant, there aren't many around. The Scripture, Choppers translation, says they are bond servants of their belly.

If we live like Jesus then there is no where to go wrong.

i'm like a little child still looking for others who want to live like Jesus..... the only ones i've seen in person(video) is the Amish in a youtube (Amish:Secret Life) video that they risked making for the sake of the Gospel (risking being shunned by their family and community; they weren't shunned as of some time /months maybe/ after the video was produced and aired.
Their lives are 24/7 devoted to serving God in their whole life with prayers, bible reading and study, service to God in their family and community, and so on. This doesn't mean that they don't encounter problems and obstacles, as does everyone as far as I've ever seen. But they handle them in a Godly , according to Scripture, manner, as much as is possible, even in extreme situations if they develop (like the last year or so, when a similar community on nationwide news declared their love in Christ Jesus and true forgiveness for someone who had murdered fellow family/community members/children).

Our Lutheran church sponsors a monthly men's group meeting and we have people attending from many different denominations including Catholic, Baptist, Mennonite, and Amish. One of the Amish fellows that attended has recently left the Amish community. When we asked him about it he explained that when he studied the Bible he began to recognize too much un-biblical teaching from their bishops. In particular was the teaching that suggested what they do by tradition was actually commanded by God. The way they dress was critical to their salvation according to the teaching. Everything was very specific right down to the size of the brim and the hatband on their hat, the size, shape, and color of the buttons on their shirt and the size of the hem and how it was constructed, etc.

Personally, I admire the lifestyle they choose to live and there have been many times when I've thought that it would be a good lifestyle to live.....so long as it is remembered that it is a lifestyle of choice and tradition meant to help me avoid the distractions of this world and remain faithful to God and not a requirement for salvation. This is one of the basic reasons I left the Catholic church where I was taught that certain customs and traditions were required for my salvation when in reality I cannot earn my salvation by following tradition.
