These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 John wrote this letter a special lady. He does not say whobut, they were a follower of Christ as were her children. John does encourageother believers from reading this letter. The word is meant to instruct andencourage the believers and is meant to point the unbelievers to Jesus.

2 The truth abides in us by the Holy Spirit and will keep usgoing. The truth is also the word which Jesus is the Word and we will berejoined to Him one day, therefore never being apart from the word. No one willever be able to do away with the word or truth; they may just not accept it.

I think the 'lady' is the church he is addressing. Her children are the individual members of that church.

Verse 13, the last verse, says "The children of your chosen sister greet you."

A sister church of the 'lady' church John is addressing sends their greetings.

I never thought of it that way. Thank you for your thoughts.
