Bible Study 3 John 7-8

3 John 1:7-8
King James Version (KJV)
7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
3 John 1:7-8
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
7 For they went out for the sake of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. 8 Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers with the truth.

7 We should represent Jesus as we go on with everyday life. We should not allow anyone to stop us from doing what we are told by God but, we should make sure what we are doing is from God before we do this though. The world will not want us to serve the Lord but we should even if they hate us like they did Christ.
8 We should support those that spread the gospel even if we are doing the same as we should be. Those that are active in serving the Lord will face people who try to tear them down; they need people to bring them back up to where God wants them. Those who face the hate from the world need to fell love from the church. They also do not need to focus on burdens of money so, giving to those who serve the Lord full time should be do as they need. They should not be living at a higher level than those they are with either though. For example if the people they are talking with are living in huts the person would relate better if they also lived in a hut. Being a missionary is a sacrifice but will be rewarded by the Lord and is not as big a sacrifice as He had made. We also should do what we are called to do and not just let others do things for us because others being called to do what they do and doing it does not stop God from calling us to do what He has for us and we also need to be like those that serve and be obedient to His calling.

:goodpostRight on Clark! I see you are studying 1-3 John. They are very important writings to us, they have been at the top of my favorite's list. They cover a lot of important issues that we face today. So, good for you my friend, may God teach you great things about Himself and others. Love is the greatest!
