Here are five reasons why kids of all ages should bring God’s Word with them to school.

Five reasons students should participate

1. Share God’s hope

By reading the Bible and talking about it, students can express God’s love and help others experience the redemptive power of knowing that their Creator cares about their lives!

2. Be an example

As a young person, a student can be a powerful example and help change things for the better – just like 1 Timothy 4:12 talks about!

3. Live their faith

The Bible talks about how the Word of God is powerful for changing lives (Hebrews 4:12; Isaiah 55:10-11). This event helps students treasure Scripture and live out the words of the Bible in their lives!

4. Stand for rights

Simply by bringing their Bibles to school and expressing their faith, students are helping to protect religious freedoms for other students and for generations to come!

5. Pump up their brain

In addition to providing life-changing spiritual guidance for our lives, the Bible is an extremely important historical document that is cited in many influential pieces of literature. So if students really want to be a knowledgeable person, it’s important to know all about the Bible!

How to empower your students

In addition to providing life-changing spiritual guidance for our lives, the Bible is an extremely important historical document that is cited in many influential pieces of literature. So if students really want to be a knowledgeable person, it’s important to know all about the Bible!

Help raise awareness

Share about Bring Your Bible to School Day with those around you, including on social media (you can follow @BringYourBible on Facebook and Instagram). Additionally, you can talk with your pastor, youth leader, and/or children’s minister to help get the word out about the event to students in your church.

Communicate with school officials

If your child is participating, particularly if they are in a younger grade level, it’s a great idea to talk to school officials in advance and let them know. You can explain that your child is participating in a religious-freedom event and that they are planning to do so in a respectful manner and in a way that does not disturb instruction time. If school officials have questions, you can provide them with the legal memo that explains students’ rights to participate. You can also read the Bring Your Bible to School Day FAQs to prepare yourself for other questions that may arise.

Help equip your students’ hearts and minds

Spiritually

Be sure to pray with your students before the event. You can do activities with your children to encourage their hearts beforehand, such as memorizing Bible verses or doing a study on a brave person in the Bible such as Daniel or Esther.

Mentally

Help strengthen your child’s trust in the Bible’s guidance and accuracy by checking out articles like this one! There are plenty of reasons to believe the Bible is true and reliable. You can help give your child confidence as they take their Bible to school.

Legally

Make time with your student on what their rights are. You can review this in the Students Rights section.

And last but not least: Celebrate God’s faithfulness with your children and remind them they are not alone! Over 500,000 students participated last year and, by God’s grace, even more will participate alongside your student this year!
