A '64-ish ring to it

This election seems to have a '64 ring to it. Like '64 would have been if JFK had not been assassinated.

Media-savvy incumbent President, seeking reelection, and going to be judged for more than his rhetoric which mainly got him elected the first time around.

(But don't ask me, I'm only Canadian...)

I was 4 in '64. But I was 20 in '80 and this election has somewhat of a 1980 ring to it: An incompetent democrat in the White House (with a friendly-to-him media) facing an electorate who previously believed in him that is struggling with his failed economic policies. Additionally, there is an air of loathing or disappointment in how he represents the country and how he makes people fell about the country.

The comparison ends (to some extent) when we compare Regan and Romney. I believe the outcome may be the same, tho.

Romney is almost a social democrat compared with Reagan! :)

But I see what you mean about the Carter - Obama comparison.
