A Direct Counter-Attack Against Anti-theists
One of the fundamental aspects of my ministry is that Christians need to get on the offensive. We need to fight back. We can defend and defend, but the only way to defeat the treacherous ideologies that have paralysed and besieged our culture is to attack them. This blurb is such a weapon as we can and must use if we wish to avoid the destruction of Truth Itself.
Atheists have nothing. They openly embrace a philosophy which leaves a gigantic, empty void at the absolute centre of their beings. And they spend their entire lives filling it with one thing or another. Food, family, sex, politics, money, music, philanthropy, drugs, exercise, sports. All of them fail, though of course some fail more spectacularly than others.
But none comes off as more irritating than when atheists attempt to fill that void with atheism itself, and an anti-theist is born.
Ultimately, the people who need Jesus most (other than his followers), are anti-theists. Anti-theism, by its very nature, is faith-dependent.
Some Christians demonstrate their faith by putting a Jesus fish on the back of their car. I have never felt this to be an especially powerful means of evangelism, but there is certainly nothing wrong with this simple gesture of celebration of our Saviour.
Enter the anti-theist. How do they express their beliefs? By taking the Jesus fish, putting legs on it, and writing Darwin inside it.
Do you see the crucial difference here? The Christian community created a symbol of worship, dependent on nothing. The anti-theistic community, having nothing to worship, could only desecrate the symbol of someone else.
The flying spaghetti monster, the invisible pink unicorn, the floating teapot… whereas religious bodies create symbols of worship and meaning and hope, these are symbols of aggression, of mockery, of outright envy against the worship and meaning and hope of others. They are nothing more than spiritual graffiti, and even the world's most gifted graffiti artist needs the real and true and useful creations of others to desecrate.
Anti-theism is a spiritual parasite. It needs spirituality to infest in order for it to have a reason to exist. And you can bet that just as cancer dies when it runs out of healthy cells to warp and consume, this raving and dysfunctional way of life would not know what to do with itself even if it achieved its demented goal of wiping out spirituality. (It won't). It would starve to death for lack of hope and goodness to ravage.
And its people would either destroy themselves, or they would repent. And where do you think would be the only place they could turn when and if they came to their senses?
Anti-theism even at its unattainable best would be an insane cycle of spiritual death and rebirth, and God is too loving to ever allow that to happen.
All spirituality is victimized and oppressed by anti-theism (except Islam, because bullies are always cowards). But no one knows this petty irritance more intimately than Christians.
This is perfectly natural. The cross needed to exist before it could be turned upside down. Jesus had to become the Name Above All Names for it to be worthy of being turned into a common cuss-word. The God of the Bible is the Father of us all, and no one is more despised by whiny teenagers than the heartbroken parent trying desperately to keep them from ruining their own lives.
And what about those pandering God-haters who would claim that, once they have destroyed spirituality (they won't) they would live peaceful and happy lives as average atheists?
They wouldn't. Decades of brainless hatred and shrieking oppression cannot just be shut off like a light switch. But even if they did…
Well, did you think I was going to let average atheists off the hook?
To every single atheist reading this: in God's eyes, you are nothing but a squatter. Do you honestly think you can bask in God's creation, and enjoy the blessings of Christian Civilization without even acknowledging the existence of the Lord who created them? Read Psalm 2 if you want to know how hilarious God finds that notion. You are for him or against him.
We do not own our world. We do not own Truth. We do not own ourselves. Jesus owns every atom of this universe, except for the sad, windblown souls who belong to Satan.
To all enemies of the Almighty: the choice remains yours. But not much longer. Jesus has had enough. He is coming soon, and He will vindicate the suffering you have inflicted upon those who love Him. And as for you… well, you will stand before Him, and when that moment comes, I wouldn't be in your place for thirty pieces of silver.
