A few months ago my pastor asked for anyone who needed guidance or direction to come to the front and he would pray for them. I felt that I needed to go and so I did. The Holy Ghost spoke to me and said that I have an important purpose in my life and God has a purpose for me. So after that I would pray to God that He would show me what He wanted me to do. He led me to verses that said stuff like people being anointed to preach and he led me to 1 Timothy. The problem is that I am scared. I am only 15, and I know that if I suggest that my calling is to preach then my life would change drastically and I don’t know how it would change. And what if I’m wrong and I’m not supposed to preach? Or I do go to preach and, I don’t know, but these are the questions that fill my mind. My pastor preached on jumping in with both feet, but it’s so much harder than it sounds. I know that there’s a difference between being called and chosen, also, but how am I supposed to know when or where or what. Please pray for me and give any advice or criticism that you feel is necessary. Thank you.

Sometimes man will tell you or make you feel to run ahead of God in order to do this or do that. But God will prepare you through quiet intimate relationship with Him for whatever He would have you to do. He will get you to the place that you will be ready to do His will if you keep seeking and communing with Him every day.
After God has prepared you He will send you, you will find less fear in Gods way.

Just seek God and be with Him for awhile, don't run ahead of Him.

I guarantee you, God will provide the want, the desire, the ambition, the drive, to do His purpose.
In the meantime, learn what the Bible says, read it and study it.
The KJV.

Yes, God and His word are one. In order to know him in the spirit you absolutely have to know his word so you won't be deceived. Thought I needed to balance out what I said above.

Whatever comes you'll know when it's the time to do something. Fact is, you won't be able to avoid it anyway.
:-D

Paul had a trade, he was a tent maker. Peter and many of the other apostles had a trade, they were fisherman. Jesus had a trade, he was a carpenter.

Find out what you are best at in school and decide if that’s what you would be best at in life as a means of supporting yourself once you have left your parents house. That is being wise in working for a living. The scripture says that if you don’t work you shouldn’t eat. So then, find out what kind of work you are best suited to do in life. What is your favorite subject in school? That might give you a clue as to where the Lord will have you be as a representative of His character. Many times, in the work place, we find that even just one person might be affected by our example. You don’t necessarily have to be a person who is in front of a huge group of people in order to minister the Lords word and way of life to them. Many times, it’s just one person at a time that the Lord will have someone work and example for him. Look at the history that is written of in the Bible, many times it shows how one person was used to affect "one" person just as they were going about their daily business in life.

Think about this.... Through the course of situating yourself in what type of work you are best suited for in life, know that the Lord will be with you in dealing with people from one day to the next and in one moment to the next on when to speak out in sharing the Gospel.
Some people don’t want to hear it, and so then in that case, we are to not dwell on them, but allow ourselves to be a living example of Christ-like character, behavior, and mind-set and keep going on with our daily duties in life. If someone refuses to repent, we must leave them to consequences after we have given them the truth in the word. It hurts to have to leave people who don't want to hear the word, but that's the way the Lord made us, to have our own freedom of choice. We, as representatives of Christ Jesus, must sometimes wipe the dust from our feet and move on to those who want to hear the truth and be transformed by the renewing of the mind. It's a blessing to learn the truth, not a curse. So we must not dwell on those who turn away from the truth. The Lord will deal with them. We have done all we can in sharing the truth of the word with them. Also,We must not think that "preaching" without having an occupation is what the Lord will have us to do. Remember work is important in life. He wills for us to have an occupation in life. We can be of service to others through our occupation, as well as through our church ministry.

The Lord will bless you in your coming and in your going. Place seeking after the Lord's heart and getting to know His character, to find scriptures where it shows the Lord speaking to his people and how he pleads with them, what he desires for them in the stead of them looking to sin filled ways. The Lord wants us to know Him on a personal level, even more intimately than you would know your own friends on a personal level. As in knowing Him well, we are then able to know ourselves through taking on His Character through that same Holy Spirit that was and still is in Christ our Lord Jesus.

Being involved in the youth ministry of your church is helpful in "spiritual" matters, but you must remember to speak to your parents about which direction to take in terms of what sort of work you would be best suited to do once you leave your parents house to live as an adult responsible for your own income and in supporting your own household. We must learn to stand on our own before we can be a living example for others. We are living examples. So then if you want to “preach†to someone about something, you must first be a good example in that particular area that you want to “preachâ€Â.

Learn how to deal with your finances responsibly, The Lord teaches us much about financial responsibilities and practical living. We must be examples of being accountable and responsible for our own actions on a practical level as well as on a spiritual level in life.

Learn the what you are well suited to do as working for a living, and in doing that, you must keep in mind to also allow the Lord to lead you AS you are tending to your everyday walk in life. We must all be occupied with something in life to help support our household. The book of Proverbs is a great place to learn about righteous living as opposed to the unrighteousness of a sin filled way. Read Proverbs 31, it teaches about the virtuous woman and wife. Even if you are not married, this Chapter in the Bible teaches that “work†and “taking of the household†is a vital part of life that we must all contribute to. Even though some people are not full time employed outside of the home, being willing to contribute in some way to the household is important. Work is important in life, even if one day you decide to be a the person who stays at home, contributing to the welfare of the home is important. “Preaching†only is not going to sustain you unless you have many people supporting you in your ministry to help contribute to your daily physical needs, i,e, housing, and practical needs, food, clothing, etc. Talk to your parents and pastor about building a ministry and what it takes to continue in doing that on a full time basis, without having to “workâ€Â. Paul was a tent maker, Jesus was a carpenter....Peter and many of the disciples of Christ were fishermen. Find out what occupation your are best suited for. Asking yourself what your favorite subject in school is, is a good place to start. That doesn’t mean that by the time you graduate from High School that your favorite subject will not change. So give yourself some time and allow the Lord to work through you as you mature, one day at a time. I am not the same as I was when I was in my 20's. We all change as we grow, so don’t rush your walk in life, go one day at a time but have a practical plan. Enjoy school and talk to your parents, and your pastor along with your parents being present. And then one day you will know for sure what you want to do in a specific time in your life. You still have 3 years of school to get through. And then, you may want to attend college for resaons that would further your abilities to be an able representative of your chosen profession and/or trade.

I hope this helps. God Bless you.

Laura, if this is God's calling for you, He'll get you through all of the uncertainties you may have. :-) It worked for Abraham and Moses and Jonah and... 8-)
