A Hard Math Question

(hard for me, cause I'm pretty dumb at math)
Here's the problem: I have a pattern for a blanket.
I got the pattern from here: http://www.knitting-crochet.com/babbla.html

What I want to do is make a small swatch of it, first.
Like, the size of a large bookmark.

So, how many stitches do I need to cast on, to make a small version of this?

The first and last 5 stitches are border stitches, so, they aren't really a part of the pattern.
Also, when it says YO, that means to make a hole, by doing a yarn over, and the K2tog means
to knit 2 stitches together.

Romans 10:9-12

:o Me? I'd drop back 10 yards and punt... or visit the local "Linens n Things". :-D

Ask Newton; I think you need to know calculus to make that anyway!

I wish I could help you Biblereader...I don't knit. And, anytime I have a question like this about the other things I actually do...I call my aunt Faye.

Sorry. The Lord bless you.

ha ha!
Oh well, thanks for replying, at least.
I'm thinking that this number of stitches she says to cast on is wrong. The knit 1, yo and k2tog pattern is a multiple of 5 stitches, but she says to cast on 127.
And, 127 divided by 5 is 25.4, which would not make the blanket turn out right.

Hey, can you ask your Aunt Faye if she knows a knitter, and, if she thinks that pattern is wrong?
I sure don't want to knit this, and end up with a mess.

My lovely wife says:
It's a multiple of three, since the border is not part of the stitch pattern. You're left with three stitches in the pattern (K1 = 1, YO = 1, K2TOG = 1).
So however many stitches you want the border to be and however wide you want the pattern to be in a multiple of three.
If you know your gauge, you can use that to figure out how wide it will be (ie. 5 stitches per inch).
I hope this helps you.

Davidlee, I am so impressed that you wife new that.
