Bible Study A Study In Obedience

Matthew

  • Exo. 19:5 'Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine.

  • Exo. 20:6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

I really wish to do this study because it is so, very, needed and important to our understanding of God and our requirements if we are to serve God. The last time I attempted this study I used only the two Exodus verses and because there is a discussion going on then and now where personal opinion is the ruling factor, by and large, about whether Christians can support the Death Penalty.

To properly case this discussion we must understand that God has given man a law, here and there, over time for us to govern ourselves by. God's Law on the Death Penalty predates the Mosaic Covenant by several centuries and God never changed that ruling. The verse is Gen. 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.

The fact that men refuse to obey any command is exemplified in this case. Matthew 5:17 is critical to ever understanding what the Mosaic, a misnomer, God's Law in the Bible, the first 39 Books of the Christian versions has never fallen, nor has it failed.

Romans 7:13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

The death spoken of here is not the First Death we are all so familiar with, no this is the death illustrated in the Baptismal when we are burried, dead, in the water before we are raised to the New Life. There is so much to this study that a man or a woman can spend their remaining time on this earth digging into it. This Nave's Study is not all inclusive but there is very much here and I ask all to remember we are studying scripture and when we answer, please use scripture to back any examples such as the one I use here.

And may God bless us all with His wisdom.
