As a Christian, especially if Protestant, the holy Trinity is a part of our belief system. The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. For instructional purposes only, and in the interest of exploring this further, allow me to pose some questions.
1. Is Christianity monotheistic? In other words, do Christians believe in one deity or multiple deities? Is Jesus God?
2. If your answer to question #1 is yes, then continue no further as it won't apply to you. However, if you think that Jesus is not God, but you worship them both as Father and Son, then continue to the next step.
3. Polytheism is the belief/worship in multiple deities. If you answered that Jesus was not God, but that you do worship them both, then you are actually polytheistic, not monotheistic!
I am in no way trying to imply anything. I am merely trying to get people to think outside of the box, or at least on a deeper level. Sometimes Christian doctrine runs into contradictions such as this one. It does not lessen the faith in any way.
I am actually having to do a thesis on this very subject. :shocked!
