I took my daughter to the dentist today for a simple filling of a cavity. While we were there, since this is a new dentist, the dentist asked if I would mind waiting a bit longer so that they could get a full x-ray of her mouth. I said no problem, it took a few minutes and we were out the door.

Fortunately, we just went to my in-law's house down the road, because they tried my cell phone, called my husband and got the number of my i-l's and called us back. I thought it was just because maybe my daughter moved or something and the x-ray didn't turn out.

But, the next thing I knew, we were being set up with an appointment with an oral surgeon on Monday. I stood there while the receptionist called the OS office and asked for something "soonest available".

There are some "abnormalities" in her lower jaw. There are several of these very dark, misshapen masses below some of her teeth. Her teeth are not affected, whatever it is is in her jawbone.

I am trying really hard not to worry. I would have felt better if the dentist was like "It's probably nothing..." but instead the dentist was pretty insistent that we get it checked out ASAP.

So we shall, the appointment is Monday.

If y'all can pray for my daughter. Hopefully it's probably nothing. I truly hope it isn't.

Oh my, that would be worrisome. I'll pray for y'all. Do you know how invasive the surgery will be, or is that something they won't know until they take a look?

Thanks for your prayers.

At this point in time, we simply don't know anything. I don't know if she'll need surgery, or if so, what kind of surgery, we're really in the dark.

Meanwhile, I'm am trying not to worry. I know that God is in full control of all of this. I'm still just praying that its all nothing and there isn't a need to do more than have the surgeon tell us its nothing.

Unexpected and disturbing news that our precious child must undergo surgery and possibly other "unknown" hardship is very difficult to bear. :shame

Yet~ I am blessed that you are leaning on the Sovereign care of our heavenly Father. May He keep you and your family wrapped within His All Knowing and tender-hearted embrace during this trial. How correct you are in your estimation~ just as He choose us before He founded the earth, He knew of this trial before your daughter was born. :nod

As a mom and grandmom I know the kind of prayers out of your mothers heart that are probably ascending to our Father, and I hope to encourage you in them with these verses. Also, alongside you I pray for the redemption of her body in this matter, asking for our God not to allow the corruption of this world to harm her, but that she may be released from it. May God grant according to his purpose~ for we know His purpose in this is for our good even so. :yes

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:23-28 ESV

This certainty of His mercy and love for you both make me sure that He will continue to strengthen you and cause you to stand strong in your faith in Him~ just as you cast your every care on Him.

The appointment is a 2:00 today. We've tried our best not to worry and especially to not let Viola think that there is anything to worry about. But, she's old enough to pick up on things and she was asking Steve and I questions last night. We just encouraged her not to worry and to just wait for today's appointment, when, hopefully, we'll know what's going on.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and encouragements. They've really helped. I'm a "crier", I cry over a lot of things, and I've really struggled with self-control to not tear up about this, especially in front of Viola, and the Lord has just given me that extra measure of strength, to be strong for her sake and not scare her further. I truly appreciate His grace in this.

Thanks for all the prayers. We saw the specialist today and he took some further x-rays and came back with an all-clear for any problems. What the first x-rays were showing was just some differences in the density of the bone structure. Apparently its normal for bone to have differing density in places, but our daughter's was just very pronounced.

Whew! Thanks again for all the prayers.
