Is it always Gods will that a broken marriage be restored? Would fasting and prayer be a good decision in this matter. Any testimonies or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Considering the fact that the Bible says God hates divorce, and that no man is to put asunder his design for the putting together of male and female I'd say it's God's will to restore broken marriages.

Marriage is sacramental and symbolic of the union of Christ and His church. Marriage is under attack so heavily right now... I know so many people personally who are divorcing, and I find this to be more spiritual than carnal in nature. Satan's perversion of the marriage sacrament, which is homosexual marriage, is reaching new heights... and the fruits of that perversion are shown in the closing of churches and the fining and imprisonment of preachers who stand against those unions. I see divorce as spiritual in nature and everyone suffering through divorce right now is under attack by that spirit.

Fasting and prayer can and will help in this situation and in any situation! I will pray for you too! And I echo the truth Jethro presented, it is always God's will for a marriage to be whole.

I think it is always God's Desire that first marriages be restored, but as I am not a Calvanist -- I simply can't stand the theological position that what God desires, he must also will. So, IMHO No -- it's not always his will that they be restored ; and just as importantly is not always a sin on the part of both ex-spouses that the marriage broke.

God loves divorce far less than he loves faithful marriages. So; Those of us who have had broken marriages, give him less glory back in that regard, but that's not to say that God doesn't have another plan for those who do have broken marriages that ultimately won't heal. It just means that we need to go through marriage, making very substantial efforts to preserve them, and restore them whenever possible. The gravely displeasing danger is to treat divorce too lightly and use it as a first option for all our petty woes and fighting....

Presuming you are not ill, fasting and prayer may be a good way to work on building up your faith and asking for God's grace in throwing out the so called, 'demons', in a marriage. But prayer and fasting really focuses more on you, and your faith, and your own failings before God than it does on the marriage failings as a couple. Unless you are fasting as a couple, it's more of an individual faith builder.

Overall -- though -- Keep in mind: When it comes to sin, God prefers you *show* mercy rather than do sacrifice (eg: unless you yourself need discipline.)

I don't know if he's talking in the U.S. or not, but I do know that in Canada, there have been news stories over the years like this one: ( Note, I am not endorsing this particular news agency, just noting the story.)

I have spoken with some Canadians roughly 8 years ago, who told me their pastor was prosecuted for merely reading specific lines of the bible in church which condemn the homosexual act. eg: Paul; and note, I was given to understand that the particular stance of the church was that people who have homosexual drives are not bad, but burdened, and that it's only the act which is intrinsically wrong to do. eg: Living together as brothers, who love each other is not wrong -- but only the homosexual act.

I do not know how the prosecution ended up... whether the pastor was acquitted or not; but prosecution, at least, is happening in Canada for 'hate speech'.

I can find where one church has been closed. I can't find where a pastor has been arrested for teaching in his church that it is a sin. Joel Osteen, said it is a sin on TV with Oprah, we didn't hear that there was any suit brought against him.
In Canada, there have been pastors arrested for saying it in a public forum such as a secular newspaper article. But not in sermons in their church or church closings because of it. That's not saying it hasn't happened, just that I can't find it, that's why I asked.
Hate speech laws are very dangerous to everyone's freedom of speech.

You know I notice that no one gives the devil any credit on disrupting marriages, as if he doesn't try to harm Christian marriages....when a husband and wife are in agreement in faith on anything it is the most powerful force and gets prayers answered very quickly. The devil is after that agreement and that is why he (your adversary, unless the Holy Spirit was lying and he really isn't roaming about looking to see if he can devour you) is after your agreement. He comes in with various snares to try to set up some kind of offense between the 2 of you, to get someone upset, someone offended, someone irritated, someone complainig, someone seeing the other as the enemy or the problem, when God warned us and said we war against persons without bodies and that our problem is not blood and flesh. And how many Believer's directly disobey the commandment of God to be ye angry but sin NOT, or to make sure that at the very, very least you have forgiven (and thereby forgotten) your spouse by the time the sun has gone down (or before bed) and thereby made peace with them in honesty and love? If not, you are giving the devil a room at your house and inviting him in. For the Word says where there is strife, there is confusion and EVERY evil work. That's pretty bad yo. That's why he is always trying to us into Strife.
It is the manifest presence of the Devil. Ever notice how after you pray for something g there is an opportunity for strife in your marriage? You must learn to be quick to identify it and quick to not take offense, quick to forgive, quick to be tender and softhearted. THEN you will see things start to change BECAUSE you have removed the Devil from your midst and out of your house. Be quick to be the one who makes things right.
Don't believe the Devil's lies that you can't because that's just the way you are, or how you grew up, or that youre a man, or your Irish, or Italian, or Mexican, or your a woman or you just feel really strongly...there are no exceptions, and if God is telling you to do it, it means it is GOOD annnd, that you CAN. Otherwise He would be unjust To tell you to do something g you can't do. We can live 1 Cor 13 v 4 through 8.
we have to choose life and blessing and that includes with our mouths and our thoughts. Be quick to think the best of the other, ask questions instead of accusing, be tender in your words instead of harsh, speak in love and be quick to love. And if you've got a problem with hardheartedness from your spouse, take the matter to the Lord and tell Him what you want Him to do with their heart and their words. He answers.

And stick with it, and don't forget to take authority over the devil and bind Him and kick him out of your marriage. Give him no place. Jesus said we have authority over ALL the power of the enemy. Its not automatic, we have to use it and we have to talk to him like a mangy dog that broke broke into your house and is laying on your pillow in your bed after he decimated your house. You would notbstop until he and the residue of him are 100% gone, and you would command him to stay out and you would block him from getting back in. You got the power of Jesus' name and you are seated with Him in heavenly places at the right hand of the Father - so if the devil wants to see you, he has to look up at your feet because he is so far beneath you in the spirit realm lines of authority. Don't let him talk you out of it.

I guess it depends. In my first marriage I prayed that God would restore us. I even forgave him after he admitted to cheating on me, and I sought to help him with his "ADHD rages". However, when it turned out that he would not cease, I had to put an end to it. All the time I was grieving the loss of a relationship that I was willing to put a lifetime into, I felt God's presence guiding me. I do believe that fasting and prayer are important. Also, seek counciling. I did and it prevented me from doing something stupid. And no matter what, let this time serve as an opportunity for you to grow closer to the Lord. However things may turn out, at least you know God will never abandon you.

Thank you Regina. I have sought God about it and He told me on the other end their would be no reconciliation. According to scripture its not His perfect will for my life now. God told me to stay right were I am with my children. He is doing a new thing now in my life and I am so thankful. Its actually something I wanted all along. I am blessed and so thankful to our wonderful Lord for all He does for us.
