For those of you that want a software (don't have to be on the internet) Bible program.
Theophilus is free. Has a concordance, can do topical studies of your own, the free version comes in King James only. They also have one you can buy that is more comprehensive, which reads back to you, Bible dictionaries, etc.

I use this free software. It's great and you can highlight verses in color, as well as change font sizes, (eyes aren't as good as they used to be).

I've got e-sword and it is very good as well. A lot of free stuff including texts by the Ante-Nicene fathers, many books, commentaries, dictionaries, and various Bible versions.

If you donate money you'll get a CD filled with stuff. There are certain Bible versions that must be purchased due to copyrights but other than that, it's a very good free resource. I'm sure the one you have is good too. Doesn't hurt to have more than one, that's for sure.

Thanks JV, I'll give it a try. I too, used to use e-sword, but didn't get around to reinstalling it when I upgraded from 2000 to XP Pro. I often use my Linux OS and have a free app called Bible Time. Similar ro E-Sword. Actually, according to the link below, E-Sword can run under Linux using a Windows emulator like "Wine".

I downloaded Esword with a bunch of the extras. I do wish they had an easier way of setting up cross-references though. I guess I have to pay if I want ALL the bells and whistles. :lol

I added on Treasury of Scripture Knowledge with Esword. It's not bad.

Agreed. I found e-sword a long time ago and I like it's nice and user-friendly interface. The possibility to compare scripture in different languages verse for verse is really useful.

GENERAL NOTE regarding upgrade:

The new 9.x versions are no longer compatible with old ones. If you want to upgrade, completely remove any older version first (any version number below 9). I mean, don't just reinstall. Should you try this, you'll end up with problems. There is no warning of this sort in the site, it just says if you're satisfied with your older e-sword, don't upgrade. Note: It's not possible to run simultaneously two different versions in the same Win XP computer. They would share common INI and INF files which would prevent either version from functioning. At least, this is what I have observed.

Indeed, if you already have installed all the free modules and Bibles you want, there is no need to upgrade. But in this case you have no access to downloadable modules in the future.

For some reason mine has lost the column on the left to select which book and chapter I want to view. I'm basically stuck with what's there when I open it, unless I do a search but that makes it very difficult to navigate. And that is with the new version from the CD on a completely fresh install (hard drive failure). :gah Guess I should contact them since I can't find any option to show/hide that most important feature.

You mean the navigation tree. It's no longer there, version 9.x lost it altogether. Hit F2 and you find a new device.  There have been numerous complaints regarding this very detail. Hopefully Rick Meyers will reconsider it in a future release.

Thanks so much for that! I don't know why I couldn't find that. I have mixed feelings about it but it isn't too bad.

Also found some other hotkeys. F5 goes back one chapter. F8 goes forward one chapter. F9 goes back one verse. F12 goes forward one verse. F2 pops up the book, chapter and verse selection.
